We love a good procedural and a good drama. When they come from the mind of David E. Kelley, you know that it’s going to be a smart, interesting, and captivating show.
Little did we know that David E. Kelley was developing a new show, but he is and he’s tapped Neve Campbell to headline the show. The show is based off Michael Connelly’s short story, and received a straight to series order from ABC.
The series takes place in Avalon on, “Catalina Island, where L.A. Sheriff’s Department Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy (Campbell) heads up a small office. Catalina has a local population that serves more than 1 million tourists a year, and each day when the ferries arrive, hundreds of potential new stories enter the island. Detective Searcy is pulled into a career-defining mystery that will challenge everything she knows about herself and the island.”
Campbell will play Nic, the only detective at the Avalon substation. She’s the type that holds to her morals and isn’t easily intimidated. But it’s these qualities that got her banished to Avalon. She’s not going to let it get her down though, she soon realizes that her detective skills may be needed and used more in Avalon.
Also added to the cast was Steven Pasquale, who will play headstrong Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Detective William Claypool. He’s called to Catalina Island to investigate a terrifying discovery.
Now, what that terrifying discovery is, we don’t know. Personally, being trapped on Catalina Island would be a nightmare, because it’s tourist trap city.
Avalon is created and executive produced by David E. Kelly. He wrote the pilot. Author Michael Connelly will also produce.
No word when the series comes out, but we may give it a chance, cause of Neve and Neve only.
