‘Stargirl’ 3×02 Preview: “Frenemies – Chapter Two: The Suspects”

Tensions rise in Blue Valley when the JSA searches for suspects in the case of The Gambler’s murder in Stargirl 3×02, “Frenemies – Chapter Two: The Suspects.” As Courtney and the team follow up on loose threads, Sylvester’s old tendencies raise more concerns.

The promo video and photos tease that Sylvester may pick Courtney up from school or get her out early to “level up.” The duo teams up, like Pat wishes, so Courtney can learn even more about working with Cosmo. In the process, Sylvester’s old ways could reveal themselves. Or it may all reach a new fever pitch with The Shade.

The out-of-context scenes in the promo tease that Courtney and Sylvester will encounter The Shade, and that interaction may occur after their training session. Courtney will certainly see Sylvester in action with Cosmo if that’s the case. Stargirl likely refers to “hot water” to mean more than The Shade’s perception of Sylvester.

So, the chances of Sylvester’s hot temper and inability to accept change, as spotlighted in Stargirl 3×01, “Frenemies – Chapter One: The Murder,” extending into more dynamics than one, is a subject of concern. It’s not the only one “Frenemies – Chapter Two: The Suspects” has to tackle, though. A murder mystery is afoot in Blue Valley.

Courtney and Pat’s plan to apprehend The Gambler’s laptop is a solid start to uncover the truth. However, they live in a town of suspects. And some photos lean into that, including the one where Larry “Crusher” Crock looks concerned in his place of peace — the gym. On the other hand, Paula finds a shoulder to lean on, however reluctantly, in Barbara.

The pair team up for what appears to be a Blue Valley High bake sale, and the comedy writes itself. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to imagine the gold Amy Smart and Joy Osmanski will deliver in this week’s Stargirl. The same is true for Trae Romano and Alkoya Brunson when Mike and Jakeem turn to The Thunderbolt.
