We’ve been excited for Netflix’s Wednesday series ever since…well. Actually, there was really never a time when we weren’t excited. And the anticipation gets better and better, with every single trailer drop. With every single new image. And just… with any new anything.
The trailer that dropped at NYCC 2022, which finally revealed who plays Uncle Fester, is yet another major epic win. Can we pause for a moment to just…enjoy the “Paint It Black” soundtrack? And the blood on Gwendoline Christie’s face? And “I know the suspense is killing you”? It’s all so good!
Anyway. Let’s not smother ourselves here. On to the news part…
Who plays Uncle Fester?

He likes to travel incognito, y’all…
Honestly, besides some of the rumored (unworthy) actors not playing our girl’s uncle, the most exciting part about the series’ Fester is…you can’t tell it’s him. As in, we had to do several double-takes before we could believe it.
Fred Armisen is simply transformed here. Someone get whoever made those prosthetics and costumes, the makeup — all of it! — shelves full of trophies, please and thank you.
Who does Christina Ricci play in Wednesday?

But wait! There’s more! Finally more! Make sure to watch the Wednesday trailer fro NYCC 2022 all the way to the end, past the title card so you can get your first look at Christina Ricci’s character.
The other big question we’ve had about Wednesday all along was…How does Ricci fit into this? She was a badass Wednesday Addams herself back in the day, but she’s obviously not the titular character of Netflix’s series.
She’s a teacher, Ms. Thornhill…who — there’s no other way to put it — we know better than to trust that smile. That blackened plant she’s holding is probably the least suspect thing about her, to be honest.
It’s giving…What’s it giving? Well. Let’s put it this way: If you’ve seen Ricci in pretty much anything at all, especially Yellowjackets and/or the Addams Family movies from the ’90s? It’s giving whatever that is.
If we’re wrong, we’re wrong. But we don’t even care because she’s here. That’s all that matters. And, honestly, whatever this teacher gets up to, we’re sure she’ll make the series that much more entertaining — without overshadowing Jenna Ortega. We actually can’t wait to see these two interact, one Wednesday Addams passing the torch to another, as often as possible.

Wednesday will stream beginning November 23, exclusively on Netflix.
