The good thing about interviews that celebrities do is that you learn something new everyday. Like for instance – new to me information is that Joe Jonas auditioned to be Spider-man and list the role to Andrew Garfield.
Jonas is doing promo for Devotion and was on the Just For Variety podcast and talked about loosing the role of Spider-man to Andrew Garfield.
“I can name probably a couple. In the moment, you’re destroyed or you’re defeated. But you realize this person was brilliant. I remember years ago I was up for Spider-Man and I was so, so excited and it was the year Andrew Garfield got it. Obviously, he was the right one. But I remember that was a big thing at the time, going back for callbacks and the director used to be a music video director. So I was like, “I got an in here.” But you know what? I love the process of auditioning and putting yourself out there and having to prove yourself.” he said.
Love that he’s so open about the fact that he auditioned and didn’t get the role. We think that more actors should open up about the roles that they’ve auditioned for. People need to understand the ins and outs of the industry and that even famous people don’t get all the roles that they want to get.
And when asked if he was ever put in a Spidey suit for auditions he said, “No, but I’m sure I had one that I would try on occasionally back in the day.”
Devotion hit theaters on November 23rd.
