Part of the great thing about music is that it’s open to interpretation. Lyrics speak to each and every person individually, and that’s part of the beauty of music. It says things that you can’t say, in a way you didn’t know that you needed or wanted them said.
A person can interpret a music the way that they need to at the time, it’s always interesting to learn about the inspiration behind the song. How a songwriter was inspired for the words to come together to make the poetry that is their music.
We talked previously how Joe Jonas was releasing a song with Khalid, for his upcoming movie, Devotion. The song, entitled Not Alone, was written by Jonas, Khalid, Ryan Tedder and Bernard Harvey.
Jonas spoke with Variety about what inspired the song, ““That mentality of being there for somebody forever, that line really stuck with me. Trying to find a marriage between how I think a lot of military and Navy families feel when they’re away from their partners, that we can all feel on the smallest scale as performers — when we travel, we’re away from the people we love constantly – but also putting myself in the smallest bit of what Jesse Brown’s shoes would’ve been like. That became ‘Not Alone.’”
Devotion, is based on the book Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice by Adam Makos. It tells the story of, “A pair of U.S. Navy fighter pilots risk their lives during the Korean War and become some of the Navy’s most celebrated wingmen.”
Devotion stars Glen Powell, Daren Kagasoff, Nick Hargrove, Serinda Swan, Spencer Neville, Jonathan Majors, Thad Luckinbill, Thomas Sadoski, Joe Jonas, and Christina Jackson.
The movie is set to be released theatrically released on November 23, 2022.
