There is nothing more important to me in my life than my health – both mental and physical. Daily, I put my mental health first and do things such as meditate, write, and walk to help myself get my mind right.
While mental health has long been taboo to talk about, I love that it’s becoming less and less taboo. I think it’s important that we discuss such things and let people know that they are not alone.
Superstar Joe Jonas opened up on a recent episode of Spout and opened up about his mental health and what he does for it.
“I start my day with Headspace, the app, and that can be like sitting in silence or brushing my teeth,” Joe said. “It’s just a way for me to check in with myself before I’m checking on social media or I’m texting people because it’s so easy to look at your phone first thing in the morning and be like, oh, I have to do this work thing or I missed this call or like, something’s going on in the world that it’s easy to make sure to like, just check in with yourself before you check in with anything else.”
Checking in with yourself is definitely very important. Something that a lot of us don’t do enough.
He continued by saying that he writes a gratitude list every day, saying, “it can be short; as simple as, I’m grateful for this coffee that I’m about to have and it’s going to give me the energy for the day, or it’s like bigger and broader.”
We love that. It’s something we should do. Starting today with a gratitude list and checking in with myself.
