We watch a lot of TV and movies! So yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
Best Scene of the Week

Raquel: Oliver and Josh spending time together and getting closer on this week’s Brilliant Minds. I can’t wait for them to get back together!
Rachel: Right now, I keep thinking about the fun I had watching the action sequence set to Queen’s “Princes of the Universe” in Masters of the Universe. The battle choreography was exciting and the music was just the best icing on top. The whole film was just a lot of fun (and nostalgic for someone of my generation!), and moments like this were part of the reason why. I loved that the dialogue earlier in the film referenced Highlander and then we get this song from the soundtrack. I hope we get to see Eternia again for scenes like this!
Gissane: As a fan of One Golden Summer, I spent the majority of my Every Year After viewing just waiting for signs of Alice Every, so that shot of Charlie seeing the photograph basically sent me through the stratosphere. We’re not going to talk about the rest of it because I’m too fragile, but that moment right there? My heart was in my throat the entire time.
Jasmine: Every moment of The Vampire Lestat Episode 1×01. Sam Reid the man that you are!
Ship of the Week

Rachel: Though I haven’t finished watching the season yet, my answer for this category this week is definitely Sam and Percy in Every Year After. This is friends to lovers with a lot of emotional heft behind it and I am looking forward to watching the rest of season one.
Gissane: Can I say Charlie and Alice, even if Alice isn’t in the picture yet? Alice, babe, come get your man. He’s literally on the floor and everyone’s being mean to him.
Aracelis: I have to say Jordie and Chantal. Although I’m loving the love triangle — sue me — I really enjoyed that Jordie did exactly what Chantal wanted without her having to ask. There was something really sweet about him recognizing what she needed and actually following through. It reminded me a little of Alice, I won’t lie, which made me like the moment even more. I’ve enjoyed them overall, and I’m excited to see where their relationship goes, especially since it’s a change from the book itself. But I also have to agree with Gissane here because Alice come home.
Raquel: I agree with Gissane and Aracelis! I’d like to say Percy & Sam, though; I only like the idea of their “forever” love, but Percy deserves better than Sam, sorry not sorry. And, of course, Josh and Oliver from Brilliant Minds are also my ship this week.
Jasmine: Even though it was part of a flashback and it wasn’t a long scene, I’m going with my toxic babies Louis and Lestat. The Vampire Lestat Episode 1×01 gave me a soft Loustat moment to hold me over because I know the two of them will be in their lovers quarrel as Lestat works through his feelings over Louis putting his business in the streets so to speak by way of Daniel Molloy.
Getting the quick backstory to what made Lestat start his rock band was important. I loved seeing Louis and Lestat just talk without yelling at each other. Lestat getting Louis’ opinion on his music, him telling Louis “Come to me” was giving me all the angst. And it reminded me why even if these two are crazy together, I still ship them.
Best Performance of the Week

Gissane: I know people have their issues with Every Year After and how various scenes panned out differently from the books, but there’s no argument to be made about the performance. Every actor is so perfectly cast and they each brought their A-game from start to finish. Sadie Soverall is my personal MVP, but man, I really adore them all.
Aracelis: I have to agree with Gissane here. The way Percy’s panic attacks were portrayed and the way Sadie performed them was unbelievable and honestly made me feel more deeply for the character than I did when reading the book. But the performance that stood out to me the most was Michael Bradway as Charlie at the end of the series. As someone who has read One Golden Summer, I know what happened and what that means for Charlie and his future.
Michael Bradway took my breath away in that final moment. When he looked at that photo, I could tell from his expression alone that everything was about to change for him. It was one of those performances where a single look said more than a page of dialogue ever could. Honestly, the entire cast did an incredible job. Their facial expressions and emotional performances felt like reading the book all over again, and I loved every second of it.
Raquel: I completely agree with Gissane and Aracelis. They said it all, and I can’t explain it any better.
Lizzie: I’m going to give this one to Connor Storrie as Lance Kingston on Criminal Minds: Evolution, not because he had a huge role, but because he walked into an established procedural and fit in right away, and also because I watched his performance and felt everything I needed to feel for the character he was playing, without ever thinking of Ilya, the character that made him famous, or even Connor himself. So many actors get stereotyped, or are forever tied to their most famous character. I can already tell Connor won’t be one of those.
Jasmine: Since its digital release, I’ve watched Michael three times. I cannot get over Jaafar Jackson’s performance! His portrayal of his Uncle was phenomenal. From the voice, to the mannerisms. AND especially the dancing. I was blown away by how well he did. And it wasn’t just about the moments of Michael the performer. Jaafar brought so much heart and vulnerability to the role. He truly showed a lot of care and you could feel how important it was for him to do his Uncle justice. This was his first film role and he knocked it out of the park. If this doesn’t earn him any Oscar nominations I would be surprised.
Moment that Annoyed Us This Week

Raquel: Sam in Every Year After. The times he broke Percy’s heart, the mistakes he made…and yet, he doesn’t even acknowledge his own responsibility in all the mess, let alone admit his mistakes.
Rachel: Delilah’s treatment of Percy in Every Year After is irking me, given what I’ve seen so far. Maybe that will change by the end of the season but I have to say I’m not liking her character all that much yet.
Gissane: For the most part, I really loved Disclosure Day, but the first half wasn’t working at all for me and the back and forth almost made me write off the movie entirely.
Aracelis: I loved Every Year After, don’t get me wrong, and I enjoyed the heck out of the show. But the one major change that annoyed me was the fact that Sam didn’t know about Percy’s mistake from 10 years ago. In the book, him knowing all those years and forgiving her after she spent so long beating herself up over it felt like such a monumental moment in their relationship. I understand adaptations have to make changes, but this is one I really wish they had kept. If there was one thing from the book that deserved to stay, it was that.
Lyra: Beatriz being dumped from the villa on Love Island USA makes no sense. Corbin was literally right there giving the ick to all the women at the villa. And Beatriz leaving the island feels more like the producers didn’t want to continuously translate her Spanish or have someone with a disability on their cast cuz liability. Love her or hate her, Beatriz was a real one in the same vein as KC. But somehow she’s the one that’s got the boot because production wants to break up the people who have locked in on Love Island USA cuz drama.
Lizzie: Look, I know I’m supposed to love Sam on Every Year After, but all I wanted was to shake Sam basically every second he was on my screen. My dude, you broke up with her over email, what exactly did you expect here?!
Quote of the Week

Raquel: “I’m going to get Josh back” – Oliver in NBC’s Brilliant Minds.
Rachel: “When you fall, that’s your chance to stand tall”– Idris Elba’s Duncan, aka Man-At-Arms, in Masters of the Universe.
I’m paraphrasing here because I don’t remember it exactly, but Sister Maura in Disclosure Day says something along the lines of “you haven’t lost faith in God, you’ve lost faith in people” and oof, that was a gut-punch.
Lizzie: “Love can be hard to find. So if you’re lucky enough to find that person… never let go.” – Percy on Every Year After.
Jasmine: “I got myself into something I can’t get out of. Music’s opened up the batch oven, and I’m not sure if I can close it again.” – Lestat, The Vampire Lestat.
