Ignoring the Chris Pratt of it all, The Super Mario Bros. Movie continues to get me excited.
First, it was over the trailer dropped at NYCC 2022. It was short, sweet, and looked absolutely stunning. The only hesitation I had was Mario’s voice. It just sounded like Pratt. Then the official trailer came out and we got a better picture of the love and care that has been put into this movie. Also, everyone fell in love with how badass Princess Peach looked as she tried valiantly to defeat Bowser.
Now we’ve got our first clip of The Super Mario Bros. Movie where we get to see some of the inner workings of the Mushroom Kingdom. In the clip, you see Toad guiding Mario through the Kingdom. Everything is bright and colorful, and the other toadstools are as adorable as they were in the official trailer. We even get to see them working and getting their coins the old-fashioned Mario way. And it’s delightful.
And while everyone might be all over the warp pipes and Mario’s first experience with them, all I can focus on is the music. Even if you haven’t played the game, you can recognize the work of composer and masterclass creator Koji Kondo. And even though Brian Tyler, who has worked on titles like Iron Man 3 and Avengers: Age of Ultron, is taking lead on the cinematic compositions of this movie, Koji Kondo is helping with the music according to MovieWeb.
