It’s kinda funny when you watch movies and television you think you get an idea of who a person is – even though you know they are playing a character. When it came to Adam Devine, we weren’t sure what to expect.
In Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, Bumper is kind of the eternal screwup. But it works for him. He’s misguided, annoying, and a little bit of a narcissist, but I refuse to believe that any celebrity is the way that Bumper is.
In Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, it’s 10 years after college and Bumper is still at his alma mater working as a security guard. He gets a call from Pieter that he’s blowing up in Germany from a mashup he put on Tik Tok and asks him to come to Germany. Bumper does just that and well, Bumper is quintessential Bumper.
But after watching all the episodes one thing that we see is Bumper has glimpses of growth and by the end he’s not exactly the Bumper that we’ve always known.
That is a testament to Adam Devine, who plays Bumper.
Adam Devine is a star. He commands your attention from the moment you enter the room (yes, even the zoom room). It’s just a natural calm that makes you want to pay attention to him, no matter what he’s talking about.
The actor talked with us about filming in Berlin, why it was cool, if he’s a schnitzel or bratwurst person, favorite musical number, just how cool Germany is, and the David Hasselhoff of it all.
Adam Devine stars in the series alongside his Modern Family costar, Sarah Hyland. Also in the cast are Flula Borg, Lera Abova, and Jameela Jamil
Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin is streaming now on Peacock.
