One more week, we are ready to review Leverage: Redemption 2×07 “The Big Rig Job!” This week’s episode is a Christmassy one focused mainly on the case, but there are a couple of things to say about Sophie. Ready?
Here we go!
How It Feels To Be The Leader In Leverage: Redemption 2×07 “The Big Rig Job”

Beyond the case of the week, we think it’s important to point out the way Sophie admitted to herself how she feels in Leverage: Redemption 2×07 “The Big Rig Job.” Sophie is the team leader. It’s a position that she earned hard, but it is not an easy position. The leadership position carries an extra responsibility: taking care of the whole team.
She doesn’t feel taking care of the team is a weight on her shoulders because she loves them, they are her family, but it’s a situation that she is experiencing for the first time. When Nate was around, he took that place – with Sophie following close behind. Later, when Sophie returned to the team, she had been gone for so long that, although she began to take the lead, she shared it with Parker.
However, things are different now. Now, the team, the jobs… she feels at home again and everyone knows that she will take care of them and lead the job to success, watching their backs. No matter what.
Sophie had never said how she felt about this, it was just a natural and logical situation because she earned the position that she has on the team. Leverage: Redemption 2×07 “The Big Rig Job” gives us a glimpse of how Sophie feels in this position.
And she finds herself divided. On the one hand, as we mentioned before, the team is her family, she would give her life for them without thinking, without hesitation, so she takes care of them with all the love she has for them. But on the other hand, being so concerned that they’re okay makes it hard for her to let someone in.
Sophie cares about everyone else…but not herself. And that’s not right. The responsibility of taking care of the team should not make her forget about herself. But we understand why she does it. She is no longer grieving over Nate’s death but she still feels too…vulnerable to let someone new into her life.
So Sophie takes refuge in the team, her family, her home, and in her responsibility to them, both leading the team and protecting them from someone new who may not be trusted to ward off any chance of meeting someone new.
Sophie is protecting herself. There will come a point where she feels like she shouldn’t do it anymore… but she’s not there yet.
Leverage: Redemption season 2 airs on Amazon Freevee.
I feel Sophie is realizing that making decisions as the mastermind is hard. There can be more than one solution and the each has their own consequences. I think she is doing a great job of that even though it can lead to second guessing herself. She does want all to be safe and for that she relies on Eliot. Eliot is the protector and has the ways out covered. As he did with Nate, he will call Sophie on something he feels won’t work. He has admitted that her plans are more thought out and had less misfires which makes less changes and has Parker saying “boring”, LOL. Sophie has opened herself up more than ever which has enhanced her ability to connect with people. The team is now like a well oiled machine.
