January is over which means it’s time for the Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, and, oh yes, the premiere of 80 for Brady. The movie stars Sally Field, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Rita Moreno, and whether or not you like football, we think you’ll get a laugh from the movie.
According to the official synopsis, 80 for Brady is the story of four best friends living life to the fullest when they take a wild trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to watch their hero Tom Brady play. It’s based on a true story as these four best friends wanted to see Brady’s last Super Bowl. Because he was almost 40 at that time. Which is like “80 in people years.”
Of course, it wasn’t Brady’s last Super Bowl. He decided that America needed to watch him for several more years on a different team and win another Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. (He only did that because Peyton Manning won Super Bowls with different teams and he wanted to do what Manning did.) Thanks for that, Tom.
Anyway, we digress. Collider gives us a little more information on the movie. Basically, the friends love watching Brady on TV and decide to just show up and watch him in person. Because it’s that easy to get into any NFL game let alone the Super Bowl. And their quest is to find a way into the biggest game of the year.
Based on the synopsis, the trailer, and the cast, we think it’s definitely something you should carve out time to see. We think Sally Field is absolutely amazing, and we can’t wait to laugh with her and the rest of these ladies.
80 for Brady also features Tom Brady (you would think he’s had enough attention this year, but since the movie is about him, he has to be in it), and a few of his teammates. We’re especially excited to see Rob Gronkowski’s “Gronk” because he seems fun. And it seems like at least one of the women agrees that Gronk is the best former Patriot. Although Danny Amendola isn’t bad to look at either.
Personally, we’re excited to see a movie about sports that also features women.
Believe it or not, women can like watching sports, too. It also looks hilarious, and we can all use a few more laughs these days. 80 For Brady doesn’t look like it takes itself too seriously and makes fun of some of the ridiculous things associated with the NFL. Like ticket prices. What regular person has $10,000 to spend on a football ticket? Plus, the casting is absolutely stacked from top to bottom. We don’t think they couldn’t have picked better actresses for this movie.
Plus, Billy Porter. Enough said.
80 For Brady premieres in theaters on February 3, 2023.
