As a Valentine’s Day gift to the fans who have embraced Jamie and Claire as their favorite fictional couple for seven seasons now, STARZ has released the newest iteration of the Outlander opening title sequence. Ready?
Here we go!
The series has adapted its iconic theme song, “The Skye Boat Song,” to each season, drawing inspiration from upcoming storylines and locations.
This season’s interpretation was crafted and performed by GRAMMY-winning artist Sinead O’Connor. It was previously announced that the highly anticipated seventh season of the the romantic, time-traveling drama will return in Summer 2023.
“We are honored to have Sinead O’Connor performing ‘The Skye Boat Song.’ Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about Outlander. She is talented beyond measure. Hers is a voice of the ages — one which pierces heart and soul — and embodies the spirit of the show,” says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer of Outlander.

We love the new opening! We have always said that nothing can compare to the bagpipes of Outlander season 1 opening, but this opening is very close. Not only does it have bagpipes playing in the background throughout the song, but the musical arrangements sound just as clean as season 1. So we’re on cloud nine right now!
As for the visuals of the season that can be seen, Outlander was less explicit this time than in the other times, but we do see some gems that readers will find quite familiar…also we see the way Roger makes Jemmy grab them tight — showing their importance. In addition, it’s clear that the war knocked on the doors of the Fraser family and that Jamie & Claire are closer than ever.
So excited for this season!
Outlander season 7 will air on STARZ in Summer 2023.
