When it comes to celebrities, well any human really, everyone has an opinion. Some don’t realize that it’s probably best to keep your thoughts to yourself (and by some, I mean most). Everything that is in our heads does not need to be said.
But that doesn’t stop people.
It’s especially harsh when it comes to celebrities. Kate Hudson has been someone that has spent her whole life in the public eye and spoke out about how the media has affected her, specifically in relationships and body image.
She spoke with Kelly Ripa on Kelly’s podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera. In the early 2000’s the media was especially judgemental and Kate said, “They were so mean to women. I mean, the body shaming from being too skinny, to too fat, to then going up your skirt and from the cellulite.”
Though the media isn’t especially kind still, there was a time that they were a worse. Yes, I am fully aware that they have a long way to go.
Kate spoke about how there was a time where she couldn’t be seen with anyone or they would assume that they were in a relationship. She couldn’t even sit and say hi to people without it showing up somewhere.
“There was so much of it at such a rate that I couldn’t in any way comprehend, that I just realized I need to figure out how to not care about any of this,” Kate continued. “You just realize that you’re letting them win the more you feel bad. If I’m going to allow this negative energy to get into me then they win. I’ve given them all my power.”
We have to thank Kate for being so open, as always.
