When we saw the first image for The Diplomat, we were intrigued. Now that we’ve seen the trailer, mixed with our love for spy television show, and our want for a political thriller with a woman in charge, we can’t wait for this show.
That and is has our forever favorite, Keri Russell in the lead role.
Top line what it is about? Well it comes from show runner Debora Cahn (THE WEST WING, HOMELAND), THE DIPLOMAT is a high-stakes, contemporary political drama about the transcendence and torture of long-term relationships, between countries and people.
Really good right? We’re loving the way that Ambassador Wyler (Keri Russell) is a no nonsense diplomat, who isn’t afraid to put her husband in his place and remind people of who she is.
The show is eight, one hour episodes, which will stream on Netflix. In the show, “Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) is the new US Ambassador to the United Kingdom. She was supposed to go to Afghanistan. She’s great in a crisis zone. In a historic home… less so. War is brewing on one continent and boiling over on another. Kate will have to diffuse international crises, forge strategic alliances in London, and adjust to her new place in the spotlight — all while trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell).
Also starring David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh, with executive producers Debora Cahn, Janice Williams, and Keri Russell.
