Our summer Netflix watchlist just got even better. Charlie Brooker’s popular Netflix anthology Black Mirror is back for season six. The series focuses on technology’s impact on humanity, and each episode leaves your mind completely blown. The last season was released in 2019, and since that time, fans, including myself, have been wondering when or if the show would return.
According to an interview Brooker did with Radio Times back in 2020, after the COVID-19 pandemic hit, he didn’t feel right putting out a show that deals with societies falling apart while we were in the midst of such a global crisis. We get it because things were dark at the height of the pandemic, so I doubt many people would have been interested in a show with such dark themes. We’re happy to know that Brooker didn’t just completely let the series go because we missed it, and now is a good time to bring it back.
According to the logline for the show, season six of Black Mirror will be the most unpredictable, unclassifiable, and unexpected season yet. As a long-time watcher of the series, I can honestly say it’s already all of these things because I can never predict anything about it. And it truly is a series in a league of its own. The storylines are always interesting, and they leave you with so many questions and have you rethinking many things in life. Not to mention the cast keeps getting better and better. Season six of Black Mirror is no different; some big names are joining.
The cast includes Aaron Paul, Ben Barnes, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, Zazie Beetz, Annie Murphy, Anjana Vasan, Auden Thornton, Clara Rugaard, Daniel Portman, Danny Ramirez, Himesh Patel, John Hannah, Monica Dolan, Myha’la Herrold, Paapa Essiedu, Rob Delaney, and Samuel Blenkin.
In addition to getting a teaser for Black Mirror season six, Netflix gave us several stills to enjoy.
While we know Black Mirror season six is set to release this June, no official date has been announced. You can be sure we will keep our eyes out for it.
