Special Ops: Lioness got our attention! A spy show is always amazing and even more so when women take the spotlight. We’re excited for the first look of the show that Paramount+ just released. Ready?
Here we go!
We’re always on board for a spy thriller but Special Ops: Lioness looks even more incredible than we thought! Pairing big stars with a long history in the industry like Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Kelly with rising stars like Zoe Saldaña was definitely the best idea if the show’s first look is any indication.
Based on a real-life CIA program, the series follows Cruz Manuelos (played by De Oliveira), a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within.
Special Ops: Lioness will focus on strong, determined, and empowered women, who defy gender roles, as they occupy positions that have been socially associated with men. So this show is a win-win and we’re on board!
Speaking about the characters, according to TVLine, Kidman, who also serves as executive producer, will play Kaitlyn Meade, the CIA’s senior supervisor who has had a long career of playing the politics game.
In Special Ops: Lioness, Kaitlyn must juggle the trappings of being a woman in the high-ranking intelligence community, a wife who longs for the attention she can’t even give, and a mentor to someone veering suspiciously close to the same rocky road she’s found herself on.
While Zoe Saldaña will play Joe, the station chief of the Lioness program tasked with training, managing, and leading her female undercover operatives. For his part, Morgan Freeman will play Edwin Mullins, the Secretary of State and Michael Kelly will play CIA Deputy Director Byron Westfield. As for the behind-the-scenes team, Taylor Sheridan will serve as creator and showrunner.
And we have more good news! Special Ops: Lioness is set to release this summer. And now it’s time for the first look!

Special Ops: Lioness will be available in Paramount+ soon.
