After months of speculation, it’s finally been confirmed that Jenna Ortega is heading to Beetlejuice 2. And while it’s a bit predictable considering the Ortega worked with Tim Burton for Netflix’s Wednesday. Also, there’s the fact that Ortega is being typecast into the moody goth girl in the same fashion as Hollywood did before with the manic pixie girl. But it does fit. Ortega fits. And as the daughter of Winona Ryder‘s Lydia Deetz, the 80’s goth from the first Beetlejuice, Ortega would understand the assignment.
Ortega isn’t the only one in Beetlejuice 2. Burton himself is. But more importantly, Michael Keaton, who played the disturbing and quite frankly disgusting poltergeist that makes me question my childhood Beetlejuice, is set to return. And Ryder herself, who has absolutely been killing it with her return to Hollywood in Stranger Things, is reprising her role as Lydia. Justin Theroux, best known for The Leftovers, is joining the cast as well in an undisclosed role.
And even with the WGA Strike looming over all the studio heads and possibly shifting the entire paradigm of movie-making, fans are excited for Beetlejuice 2.
Some are saying that Ortega has been manifesting her most recent roles. Which is a whole mood honestly.
Others are calling her the horror queen of our generation.
There were some dedicated Jenna Ortega fans that even brought out their own manips fr the possible cover of Beetlejuice 2.
While others compared the similarities between Ortega and Ryder, proving that this casting is spot-on.
And then there were some that were just happy that this is the direction the sequel is going in.
While there’s us who are just hoping for the return of Catherine O’Hara because reasons.
