We are rewatching Outlander 7×02 “The Happiest Place on Earth” on loop! After everything this episode made us feel, we wanted to know much more about it. Luckily, our wishes came true and a behind-the-scenes video gives us all the answers we needed to know. Ready?
Here we go!
In the video, we discover from Caitriona Balfe what Claire felt at the moment of Allan’s confession in Outlander 7×02 “The Happiest Place on Earth.” As we mentioned in our review, Claire feels that she failed Malva. A horrible thing was happening right under her nose and she didn’t notice it and couldn’t help Malva.
And from guilt, we turn to revenge. John Bell reveals that all Ian felt at that moment was anger and a desire for revenge on Malva’s behalf.
After that horrible confession, we move into happier territory as Brianna gives birth to Mandy surrounded by her family. In the video, we found out that it was a very fun scene to film. Just like the meeting between Bree and her brother. Through that encounter, William felt a strange familiarity with his sister. Even though he doesn’t know the truth, he does feel a great connection to her.
That was definitely a very special moment for both characters and Jamie as well. In Outlander 7×02 “The Happiest Place on Earth,” he first sees his children together and feels a mixture of fear and pride.

And, while Outlander 7×02 “The Happiest Place on Earth” has endearing and happy moments, it also has devastating moments. Through this video, we relive Bree and Roger’s decision to leave the past to save Mandy. They don’t want to leave home or be away from their family, but they have to. Sadness and emotions are the protagonists at this time and that is how the behind-the-scenes team wanted to reflect it.
The departure of Roger, Brianna, and the children is a heavy blow for the entire Fraser family, but especially for Jamie and Claire who must watch their family break apart and disappear in the blink of an eye.
But in Outlander 7×02 “The Happiest Place on Earth” the troubles don’t end there for the Fraser family. What Jamie and Claire feared the most arrives and the fire that is supposed to end their lives breaks out. The actors explain in the video the sadness they felt when they saw the Big House destroyed. And it’s a reflection of ours.
Outlander season 7 airs Fridays at 8PM ET on STARZ.
