Sex scenes.
We all have our opinion of them, but TBH, they are so choreographed and technical, that this writer doesn’t really have the same opinion that most do. But that being said, there is an opinion to be had when a movie has a sex scene, and people are not afraid to voice them.
Cillian Murphy, one of the stars of Oppenheimer, filmed intimate scenes with Florence Pugh. While we’ve read a lot of comments that are all over the place about their scenes – which we won’t put in here, because a lot are spoilery.
However when asked about filming sex scenes with Florence Pugh (who plays Oppenheimer’s mistress in the movie), he sang her praises and defended the scenes.
“Those scenes were written deliberately,” Cillian said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald. “[Christopher] knew that those scenes would get the movie the rating that it got. And I think when you see it, it’s so fucking powerful. And they’re not gratuitous. They’re perfect. And Florence is just amazing.”
He went onto say, “I have loved Florence’s work since Lady Macbeth [William Oldroyd’s 2016 period drama about a woman embittered by a loveless marriage] and I think she’s fucking phenomenal. She has this presence as a person and on screen that is staggering. The impact she has [in Oppenheimer] for the size of the role, it’s quite devastating.”
Oppenheimer has an all star cast of Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh and more. The movie is playing in theaters now.
