We’re trying not to cry, but here we are, watching the trailer for Sitting in Bars With Cake and wanting to call our best friend. We want to take care of people we love and tell them that they matter. We even want to bake a cake.
Yara Shahidi and Odessa A’zion are real life friends that star in the movie together. We love that their friendship shines through on the screen.
Inspired by true events and based on the book by Audrey Shulman, “Sitting in Bars with Cake follows best friends Jane (Yara Shahidi) and Corinne (Odessa A’zion) navigating life in Los Angeles in their twenties. Corinne, the ultimate extrovert, convinces her shy-but-extremely-talented home baker best friend Jane to commit to a year of baking cakes and bringing them to bars with the goal of meeting people and developing confidence – also known as ‘cakebarring.’ During their year of ‘cakebarring,’ Corinne receives a life-altering diagnosis, and the pair face a challenge unlike anything they’ve experienced before. Sitting in Bars with Cake isn’t only a madcap joyride through some of L.A.’s most colorful watering holes, it’s a moving celebration of female friendship, forging identity, and finding joy in the most unexpected places.”
Though we’re a little confused about the whole cake thing, we do know that everything has a purpose. The confusion is mostly who would eat a cake from a stranger, but what do we know? We’d be too afraid.
We’re definitely going to have to pick up the book that it was based off of, because this just looks too good. We do love an emotional story and we do love these actors.
Sitting in Bars with Cake hits Prime Video on September 8th. What do you think of the trailer? Tell us all the things.
