This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, tv shows and movies being covered in Fangirlish Feels of the Week wouldn’t exist. We stand with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA.
We watch a lot of TV and movies! And we read a lot of books too, not to mention the time we spend on TikTok. In case all the reviews, interviews, news, and features didn’t give you a clue (wink, wink), we come together to highlight all those great moments that our favorite shows, movies, and books give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
Moment that made you collapse into a puddle of FEELS

Rachel: The third Arch world that Nynaeve experiences in The Wheel of Time 2×03. We got a Lan/Nynaeve reunion! They kissed!! She stayed with him for years! And they had a daughter!! And Perrin and Mat were doing good! AND NONE OF IT WAS REAL.
But the pain of watching Lan and Mat and Perrin die was. Nynaeve’s cries when she returned through the Arch, thanks to just her own power, were wrenching. I don’t care how long it takes, this show now has to make the good parts of this alternate reality come true someday. Or be even better, that’s fine too.
Erin: I blame Lizzie for this, but I really got into The Lincoln Lawyer this year and so when it was renewed for a third season, I got all excited and emotional.
Lyra: I’ve been watching Who is Erin Carter? and the pain that this woman is going through hits a high note in 1×05. Just know there is a huge scream of pain that just erupts out of her and it killed me. If you haven’t watched this Netflix show, please give it a chance.
WTF Moment of the Week

Amanda: I think “WTF NBC?” at least five times every time the network broadcasts gymnastics because they love to show Simone Biles getting her ankles taped for five minutes instead of any gymnastics that may be happening at that time. Just because the gymnast isn’t an Olympian or World Champion doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be shown on TV! (I’ll stop now, because I could go on about NBC’s gymnastics coverage forever.)
Shana: I am going to say “YES. THIS.” to Amanda’s WTF and also do a “yes, and” for it: I’m pretty sure they said some mess during the broadcast about Simone not really needing to worry about execution because her difficulty’s so high, when she also gets nuts-good execution scores.
Is this seriously the narrative we’re going with, even after the nearly unheard of E score on her Yurchenko double pike for just about any vault, much less one no one else can do??? And then, during the interview at the end, she says she’s keeping her goals personal…and immediately gets a followup about 2024. She said it was personal. Ugh. I get so damned tired.
Ashley W.: Following up on Amanda’s and Shana’s annoyance with NBC’s Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships coverage, I simply don’t understand why the network cannot, at least, show more of the gymnasts’ vaults. It’s the quickest event, and not everyone even competes more than one vault. It’s my favorite event to watch and doesn’t even take 20 seconds to show a vault.
So it’s frustrating to not see more vaults when it wouldn’t be difficult to. The fact they wouldn’t even show Jade Carey, of all people, vaulting live just so they could instead show gymnasts sitting around on the floor in real time is ridiculous. Not to mention just lingering on these gymnasts sitting around and talking to one another just feels invasive at times, because it can get to the point where it feels like we’re eavesdropping.
Ashley T.: Y’all might as well get used to it because I’m going to be saying WTF to these studios every week until the strike is over. It really isn’t that difficult to offer these writers and actors a fair deal. Just do it so we can all move on with our lives.
Tik Tok That Made Me LOL

Amanda: When you say “You can watch Hamilton at home” is completely different than what you expected 😂 That’s definitely not Disney+!
Ashley W.: Are celebrity-endorsed syllabi going to become a thing now? Because this one was very amusing!
Lyra: Apparently my FYP thinks I’m into baseball now. I’m not, yet. But dear lord I’m getting some good and unexpected family moments in this sport.
What We’re Reading This Week

Ashley W.: I’ve had Invincible on my to-watch list for a while, but I’m one of those people who will usually insist on reading the source material for movies/TV shows beforehand. So I’m finally reading the first Invincible compendium, and it is very daunting with its 1,000-plus pages and 47 comic book issues. But it’s comforting to at least know I don’t even need to read half of it to get through what the Prime series covers in its first season.
Ashley T.: I’m still working my way through my backlog of Star Trek comics while I wait for Star Trek: Lower Decks to return on September 7!
Lyra: Does fanfic count? When I need comfort, I fade back into Sterek fanfiction and always find comfort in its arms.
What We Rewatched This Week

Rachel: I did a “favorite scenes” rewatch of Red, White, and Royal Blue. I think this film will always bring a smile to my face from now on.
Shana: Still burning my way through this Suits rewatch. Currently, I’m in the early part of season 7, and I (predictably) want to reach through the TV and strangle that unqualified, dangerous “doctor” Agard. I swear I hate her, and that whole abusive situation, more every time I watch it.
Ashley W.: I rewatched Captain America: The First Avenger, because I simply could not let the month of August go by without watching it at least once. And I honestly couldn’t even tell you when I last went through an entire month without watching it.
Ashley T.: I rewatched Thor: Ragnarok this week because I’m talking about it on an upcoming episode of the Creepy and Geeky podcast. It had been a while since I’d seen it, and to be honest, it’s the first time I didn’t doze off during the Stan Lee Sadistic Barber scene. I don’t think the movie is boring at all! I just apparently have blacked out every time before because I can’t handle the idea of Thor’s gorgeous locks being chopped off, even if I like the short hair look too.
