Talking about ones mental health isn’t easy. It’s honestly one of the scariest things in the world. You see, the world is filled with people who still want to judge people who have a mental health issues. Thats why when a celebrity comes forward and talks about their issues, we applaud, we honor, and are so thankful for that they do.
Kit Harington is an actor a lot of us love. We know him from Game of Thrones and a lot of people may not know his struggles with fame. While on the Hidden 20% podcast Harington said that it was his fame from the show that caused his struggles with mental health and alcoholism.
He spoke about going to rehab in 2019. It was while there that the actor was also diagnosed with ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder).
He told the host of the podcast, Ben Branson, “I realized that my life was hinging on this. Luckily, it was the right place at the right time. I managed to forge a new life from there.”
Forging a new path, a new life isn’t easy for anyone. It’s something that is very scary and difficult, but Harrington knew that was the path that he needed. He had stated that he, “entered rehab drunk, sobered up in there, and went, ‘Fuck this, not you guys in a circle. No, thank you.’”
But it was his second rehabilitation facility that diagnosed him with his ADHD. The news wasn’t easy for him to take and he left that rehab thinking that he could just do it on his own.
He said, “I left that pretty quick and said, ‘I’ll try to deal with this by myself,’ which didn’t work after about four years.”
Harington is now sober and present and focused on his kids with his wife, Rose Leslie.
