AMC finally let the Interview with the Vampire Season 2 release date and trailer out of their coffins, and we’re…Well. Do we really even need to start with the vampire puns to explain how excited we are — or even say we’re excited at all — when we’ve made it more than clear how obsessed we are with Anne Rice’s characters? Probably not. But we’re going to go ahead and say it anyway. We are so excited (and so scared) that the wait won’t be much longer! But here’s the part that’s keeping us even more on edge than we’d normally be when it comes to something like this: some of the casting news.
First up, and for in-world reasons that will be obvious to anyone who knows the story, the series has its Madeleine (Roxane Duran). Which, like, look: We’re not going to dwell on this point or give anything away here. But let’s just say there’s one image from the 1994 film that we can not wait to see reimagined. We are also going to, once again, mention that there’s one very specific piece of that whole Paris saga that was not included in the film that we really, really hope to see in Interview with the Vampire Season 2. And, based on all evidence so far, there’s no reason to believe we won’t get it.
But here’s where things…get a bit unhinged. We have a new character to look forward to: Leonard. And by new, we mean actually new new — to all of us, not just those along for the TV ride. And no, we’re not fangirling over seeing this Leonard guy because we like it when folks make changes to material we know almost as well as we know our own blood. It’s because of who plays him: David Costabile. Most people probably know him from a lot of projects…but we know him from our beloved Suits. And Costabile’s character, Daniel Hardman, brings to mind such warm fuzzies as “you’re nothing if not an asshole” and “it took a while to feng shui the evil out.” Not to mention, Hardman getting bitch-slapped and called a “piece of s***” by the Donna Paulsen more than once.
So, what we’re saying here is: If Costabile brings even half that asshole/evil/piece of s*** energy to “Leonard” in Interview with the Vampire Season 2, we’re going to have a blast. To the point where the rest of the season could be trash (we doubt it will), and we’ll still call it a win. The total Suits world domination of everything from streaming, to holiday horror, to YA adaptations, to the Golden Globes stage is amazing to witness. So, seeing it leak over into this world, specifically, just proves Insert Firm Name Here’s reach is truly limitless. (And, if anyone wants to start with the crossover fanfiction to prove, say, Donna Paulsen is as immortal as her brain is too busy being awesome, someone please slide into our comments section with the links.)
Actually, while we’re at it…
It’s probably too late to bring them to Interview with the Vampire Season 2 at this point, but um. Can Gabriel Macht and/or Sarah Rafferty come be messy, problematic vampires at some point? We won’t even take (much) credit for the suggestion if it ever happens. Where do we send the White House petition to get them into Lestat’s rock band? (Tiny potential spoiler, we guess?) Or, hell. Put them on the stage at the Théâtre des Vampires — even in a future season. After all, flashbacks can exist!

Anyway. If you’ve enjoyed this detour into a completely different fandom, you’re our kind of people. And if not, but you’re still here, thank you for putting up with us.
The Interview with the Vampire Season 2 release date is May 12, 2024.
We promise we’ll get back to talking about Louis, Lestat, Claudia, and — last but never least — Armand by then. Or…will we?
