Some characters in movies or television are absolutely horrible. We know that liking or hating a movie is subjective, but when we feel strongly about something, we say it. We talk about it. It is what it is.
Rambo is a character that is absolutely atrocious. The movie, the character – just really bad. We do know that several people like it, but we don’t have to all agree about things.
Some may say that we may not like Rambo because of the actor who played him, but look, we don’t always mind Sylvester Stallone. We still may not like the character of Rambo, even if say… Ryan Gosling was to take over playing the role.
Stallone was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and said that if he was ever to pass on the character of Rambo he would pass the baton to Gosling and there is a specific reason why.
“I met him at a dinner and obviously we’re opposites. He’s good-looking — I’m not. That’s how it works,” Stallone started when explaining the reason why.
“But he goes, ‘I was fascinated by Rambo, and I used to go to school dressed as Rambo and people would chase me away and I still didn’t stop.’” Stallone continued when talking about their conversation. We can’t imagine a little Gosling dressing as Rambo, but well, apparently it happened.
“He just kept saying that he had a lot of affiliation with Rambo, and I thought, this is interesting. If I ever pass the baton, I’ll pass it on to him because he loves the character,” Stallone said and then voiced his one big concern about Gosling playing the character.
He said, “I don’t know if anyone would say hey, he’s too good-looking to be Rambo.”
Well, that’s a reason.
Though right now (that we know of) there are no plans for another Rambo movie, we’re hoping that this doesn’t change the powers that be’s mind and someone decides to reintroduce one. We’re good.
