Love is Blind season 6 tested what it meant to fall in love…again. Are looks, money, and other superficial things important when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? We watched a group of people navigate these questions. And since we can’t control ourselves (as evidenced by the breakdown for episodes 1-6, 7-9, 10-11, and the finale), here we leave you with our breakdown of the season 6 reunion!
1. How do you think Vanessa and Nick did?
Lizzie: LOOK, I’m going to be honest, I think this was the best reunion the show has had and a big reason for that is Nick and Vanessa. They weren’t just good, they were superb. They asked all the right questions! They followed up correctly! They didn’t look lost! And they weren’t pushy or weird. I know, I know. That sounds very strange coming from me, but I really, really liked them.
Lyra: Vanessa and Nick did an extraordinary job that almost erases five seasons of awkward reunions. Almost. Multiple times throughout the reunion I found myself being shocked that they were asking all the questions that we had been wondering about on social media and on Reddit and then following up. I do wish they went harder on some people but that’s a question down the line in this breakdown. But I think they’ve learned from the past and definitely had a very thorough meeting with Netflix on how they could turn these reunions around. And they did.
2. What was the least surprising part of this reunion?
Lizzie: Amy and Johnny being together. They weren’t really trying to hide it, and everything they did during the season pointed to them being the couple that made it here together and happy. But that doesn’t mean I’m not happy for them. I am. I think I’ve said it before, but there’s one couple every season that kinda makes you feel like the show is works, or that this isn’t just drama for the sake of drama. And though we do like the drama, and at times we might think the happiness is boring, couples like them are the ones we need for the show to make sense.
Lyra: Amy and Johnny still being together was no surprise at all. They have that easy kind of love where they’re a little boring. But sometimes boring is good and I appreciate the fact that we got at least one couple this season that looks like they’re going to make it in the long run and prove the central theme of the show, which is essential to keep this series going for seasons to come.
3. Who do you think they let off too easy?
Lizzie: Trevor, for sure. He was a coward and he begged off, and a part of me gets it. He was being held accountable, and I think when you screw up as badly as he does, it’s hard to be held accountable in front of the world. But he wasn’t even being treated that harshly. He just reaped what he sowed. Action, consequence and all of that.
And then I think the show also let off Chelsea off the hook a little bit, but I admit it was because Chelsea – and honestly, everyone but Jearameamy and Sarah Ann, took their lumps and said the right thing. I want to believe it’s because they’ve learned, and for most of them it might be possible to believe that, but I still feel like the way she revealed someone else’s secret was very uncool and she didn’t get much grief over it.
Lyra: Chelsea. Hands down. 100%. I think because everyone is friends with her, they have excused a lot of what she did during the season. I do like that she admitted that she was needy and they had the conversation about exposing the friend secret. But they could have went harder in the same way they did with everyone else. Even Trevor, who I think they let off easy, and got a harder grilling than Chelsea did. But as always, the internet remembers and she’s always going to be known for the gas lighting we saw in that pivotal argument.
4. Who ate and left no crumbs?
Lizzie: Laura. She was 100% on point with what she told Jearameamy and Sarah Ann, who had the nerve to show up and pretend like they didn’t do anything wrong. Miss me with that. She wasn’t the only one, either. AD and her whole response to Clay. Even if she does end up getting back together with Clay, I think AD really showed she understands her worth.
And then there’s Jessica, who told it to Jimmy like it is regarding that interview where I also feel he was very uncharitable towards Jess. And that’s without going into Vanessa, who as I said in the first response, left no stone unturned. So hey, the women were eating this reunion.
Lyra: Laura and Jessica ate and left no crumbs. Laura wasn’t there so I think it gave her a bigger level of separation to say what she had to to Jeremy and Sarah Ann. But we all know that she still would have gone hard on them if she was there. She’s just that girl. As for Jessica, she was really trying to look the best because she’s going to end up on the Perfect Match. I still think that she would definitely defend her friends, but a lot of it is because we’re going to see her again and she needed the edit.
5. Between Clay, Jeremy, and Jimmy, pick your fighter!
Lizzie: Man, I don’t even recognize myself, but Clay every day of the week and twice on Sundays. He really seems like he has learned his lessons, and he has grown. And whether AD forgives him or not, it seems like he’s done that for himself and that he really regrets the way he acted during his time in the show. So hey, good for him. Hopefully, he can keep growing and learning and he didn’t do all of this to try to get AD back.
Lyra: If I picked a fighter because I’d like to see them squirm, it’s going to be Jeremy. He is the messiest of all the contestants. And I think that I would’ve liked to see more of him talking and taking accountability for his actions instead of Sarah Ann sitting there in her early 2000s glitter glory trying to defend herself being a pick-me girl. DEFEND YOUR CHOICES. YOUR JETSKI CHOICES. ALL CHOICES.
6. Do you think anyone will get back together?
Lizzie: I think AD and Clay might get back together, but if I were here, I’d wait a bit. Clay has said all the right things, and he sounded sincere, but he could stand to wait a little bit longer. He did leave her at the altar, you know. If she needs more time to be, that’s what she needs.
And are Chelsea and Jimmy together? No one asked them, but I almost feel like the answer is yes. Maybe? Somewhere in between? It was very confusing, but if the answer isn’t yes, it’s at least maybe. Not that I think they should be together. That way lies pain.
Lyra: Chelsea and Jimmy. Those two I think are going to get back together. Maybe not from the interactions they had in the Love is Blind reunion. They still had some anger, jealousy, and betrayal brewing between them. But their Instagram posts seem like a soft launch of their relationship. Because why would you tag each other in stories and posts if you can barely look at each other during a reunion? Questions. Choices.
7. What was your favorite part of having all these Love is Blind OG’s back?
Lizzie: They should always be involved in the reunions. It’s nice to catch up and see the good things the show has done. Particularly the couples that are still together. Make it a part of every reunion. And I’m not just saying that because I truly enjoyed how they all reacted to all the tea, though I admit that part was hilarious. So many new reaction gifs to be found in the way the couples were just LIVING at the tea.
Lyra: The facial reactions of the OG cast. Dear Lord, they were perfect and they should be invited back every season. These people have done the show before and know what it means to go through this process. So their perspective is unique and those reactions come from a different place than the audience. Also, Kwame and Chelsea. I really didn’t think you would make it, BUT HERE YOU ARE! Good for you!
Love is Blind Season 6 and the reunion is available to stream on Netflix.
