Love is Blind season 6 tested what it meant to fall in love…again. Are looks, money, and other superficial things important when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? We watched a group of people navigate these questions. And since we can’t control ourselves (as evidenced by the breakdown for episodes 1-6, 7-9, and 10-11), here we leave you with our breakdown of episode 12 of Season 6!
1. Did Jimmy make the right decision by telling Chelsea he didn’t want to go to the altar?
Lizzie: Yes, he did. He probably took too long to do it. He gave her way too much grace that she did not deserve considering their entire relationship was a walking red flag. I don’t even know how they got there and looked happy for most of the date considering how that conversation went down. But I do think Jimmy stopped being sure the moment they had that big fight when Chelsea brought his friend into it, and honestly, I don’t blame him.
Lyra: Jimmy absolutely made the right decision. He should’ve done it sooner but I know he wanted to go to that theme park and ride the coasters. It’s giving Tim Robinson and the zipline skit. Which I kind of respect if the whole part is shut down for you. But back to Jimmy and Chelsea. I think Jimmy was shook by Chelsea revealing that secret about his friend while the cameras were rolling. It was a choice that she made and he made a choice in the final episode to say no. He probably thought he could make it work but no. When the moment came he couldn’t.
2. Was Chelsea going to say “yes” if she and Jimmy got to the altar?
Lizzie: I think she was going to say yes if she thought he was going to say yes, which doesn’t speak well of their relationship. I feel like she wanted to “win” more than she wanted to be in a happy marriage. And “winning” in Love is Blind means getting married, so I guess that’s what she wanted. It’s weird, but I think this is the best outcome for both of them and I hope they can learn something from this.
Lyra: Chelsea wasn’t into Jimmy like she wanted us to believe. It was acting. Because I still believe she picked him because it was a one-up to Jessica. But as for the altar, I think she would’ve said yes. If you looked back at her argument with Jimmy, she ran circles around him and herself that she was right. No doubt Chelsea would’ve gaslit herself to think marrying him is a good idea even though I don’t think they even like each other.
3. If Clay wasn’t ready for marriage, then why did he sign up for Love is Blind?
Lizzie: This is the REAL question. I would say he wanted to get famous, but a part of me thinks the man is just clueless. Did he even watch the show before coming on? Did he really understand what he was getting into? Because I don’t think he was ready for the real conversations he needed to have and the realizations about himself that needed to happen. A part of me thinks he thought he was going on Too Hot to Handle or something. Tell us the truth, Clay. Did you sign up for the wrong Netflix reality show? We won’t judge …much.
Lyra: Fame. Like this show is known. Big time. But it feels like with every season people just want to be famous. I don’t feel the investment or the commitment. Looking at the final episode, you could tell AD was committed. She walked hand in hand with him even if she knew he was a red flag. But she was invested. Clay wasn’t. Also, I always think back to one of the pod conversations they had. He wanted to know how she looked. Clay wasn’t ready then and he wasn’t ready on their wedding day.
4. What did you think about when AD told Clay that she felt like a sacrifice to him for learning so much about himself?
Lizzie: Spot on, girl. That was spot on. And it’s so sad that you ended up being just that. And that you could see it means that you need to walk away. I truly hope she did, too. I hope she didn’t give him another chance because he doesn’t deserve it.
Because that’s the thing, she kept giving him chances. And I think we’re sorta conditioned to believe we gotta keep doing that. But I just hope she didn’t again after he said no at the altar.
Lyra: While I think AD’s response was spot on, she knew he was a red flag. She even joked about it. So while I sympathize with her and know she was committed to this process, we all saw it coming. Like we weren’t surprised he said no. But there’s a lot of unaired content so maybe he said more than, “I’m afraid I’m going to cheat.” All I hope is that she emerges stronger from Love is Blind and lives by her last words in this episode. She’s enough and it’s time to walk away from red flags.
5. On a scale of 1-10 how emotional were you about the family conversations Amy had with her mom, dad, and future sister?
Lizzie: 12. I cried at Amy’s dad, and then Johnny’s sister, and then the way the two families just meshed so well together. Did you see Johnny’s brother with Amy’s brother when her dad was giving that speech? And then his sister with her brother? It truly felt like Amy and Johnny were meant to meet. The show always has one couple that makes you feel oh, okay, this show does work and they were it this year. They’re the reason we will probably tune in for another season.
Lyra: I’m with Lizzie. Straight up 12. The way these two integrated their families in the wedding, there was no doubt they would get married. Like I’m so sure they’ll make it long term that the thought of them not being together at the reunion terrifies me. They went all out for the wedding. And I hope they go all out in life and have a beautiful couple of decades together. Cuz love is the point of this show, right?
6. Did you doubt for a second that Amy and Johnny were going to get married?
Lizzie: Not for one second. Basically, since they saw each other, I knew these two were going to get married. I bet they’re still happily together. They just have that vibe.
Lyra: Not for one second. Admittedly sometimes they bored me. But in a good way. Like I knew they would be ok and I could focus on the drama and not worry about them. That’s rare.
7. How does this season finale compare to season 5?
Lizzie: I still thought Lydia and Milton were gonna get married, but that had a little more drama. Amy and Johnny were a sure thing. No doubt in my mind about it. Clay and AD were also a very clear no to me. So that made this episode very predictable. After the wild beginning with Jimmy and Chelsea, the episode was very easy to predict, to be honest. Last season was a little more surprising. But I’m not really surprised at which couples ended up getting married in either season.
Lyra: By the time we got to the season 6 finale, it was clear who would end up together and who wouldn’t. So while I loved the drama throughout the season, I would’ve loved a little more mystery in the finale. Something that would’ve left me shocked Pikachu face.
8. What does Love is Blind need to do better in future seasons?
Lizzie: They for SURE need to do a better job of vetting the candidates. Who’s doing the background checks? Those people be asleep. Hire some better people! It seemed like everyone this season was just in this to get famous. And I know it’s harder now, but come ooon.
Lyra: I need better tracking of the contestants. What do you mean Jeremy was out until 5 am with Sarah Anne?! WHERE WERE THE CAMERAS?! We got plenty of shocking moments this season but there were some missing moments that I really wish we saw.
Love is Blind Season 6 is available to stream on Netflix. The reunion will be available to stream on March 13th at 9/8c.
