Though I am pretty sure that we won’t get a screener for The Way Home season finale, I wish that I would. I need to know what happens to the Landry family. I know, I know, some of you would say what about Elliot? To that, I say that in my eyes, he is part of the Landry family. He’s the Landry family’s second son and that’s a hill I will die on.
Now do I specifically like Elliot? No. But that’s because of some of the things that he said and did.
But as we journey into the last episode of the season, I am pretty sure that I will never be able to guess anything that happens. Do I have theories? Yes. A lot of theories. Some of them I have expressed during the season and some I have kept in my head. Fandom is a strange thing. A strange thing because it captivates you and crawls inside your head.
The Way Home has crawled inside my head, so hey, here are my THEORIES on what’s left to happen in the show. Join me as I become even more unhinged.
ELLIOT IS A TIME TRAVELER
Hear me out. If you watch the show, you know that there was a moment at the estate sale where Elliot is looking at the stairs at the Goodwin estate and he hears a few bars of music. It’s as if something is replaying in his mind, and I don’t believe that it has to do with Langermore. I think he went back to 1814 to get Kat.
I know Elliot has spent his entire life wanting nothing more than to be a Landry, and a large part of that has to do with Colton. I do think that comes from a deeper place than just being Kats’s best friend and his family’s ties to the Landrys. Though, I am not sure exactly what that means and how it works out, what if all the original families of Port Haven have a tie to the pond and it only allows you to travel when it needs you to?
Elliot knows too much. I understand that the Augustines are the keeper of records, but I also think that to know as much as they do, maybe they are the ones who are allowed to watch time as outsiders.
And that means time travel.
KAT STAYED IN 1814 FOR JACOB
Time has to be all about balance. At least I would think it has to be. Though I am not a science person, I would think that. I can accept that I may be wrong. But I can also accept that I could be right.
So what if when Kat returns to say her goodbyes to Thomas, Goodwin sees her? He wants to stick it to Thomas and Suzanna, and Kat has to step in. So since Thomas has broken his deal with Goodwin, the one he made to save Jacob, Jacob is in danger. We all know that Kat is going to do anything to save her brother.
So what if she makes a deal with Goodwin? That means though that Jacob is only safe in the future and he needs to go.
KAT MARRIED CYRUS GOODWIN TO SAVE JACOB AND THOMAS
Ok, so part one of my theory is that Kat has to stay in the past for Jacob. But why would just staying help Goodwin? Well, I think that he made sure that he got something he needed in return. That would be a wife.
Kat knows that Alice will be taken care of, but it does kill her to stay. She just figured that she’d be able to escape at any time and that the Pond would take her home. She didn’t think she’d be gone for a long period.
Goodwin is the town bully, and from what we saw in the last episode, that seems to run in the Goodwin family. He says that he’ll do it but Kat has to be his wife. She agrees, thinking that the marriage will never be valid anyway.
I also think that Goodwin took the painting from the lighthouse of Kat and it’s something that Thomas painted. But Goodwin hangs it to remind Kat of what she’s lost.
DELS IS FROM THE PAST ALSO
Del wants to please everyone. She always has. So we’ve found out more about what went on at Lingermore, but I do believe that there is more to this whole Goodwin/Landry thing than we understand yet. Like maybe Evelyn knows who Kat is and she’s holding that over Del’s head.
But I do think that Del may be from the past. I think that because the horse that took to her looks just like Susanna’s and that says something. It tells me something about how she may have traveled through time. Cause hey, the dog can travel with Jacob, so what if the horse can travel too and it comes to make Del remember?
I don’t think anymore that Del is from 1814, but I do believe that she has traveled through time and she’s somehow forgotten.
SEASON 3 WILL HAVE TO BE ALL ABOUT DEL
The stories of the Landry women are interconnected. We’ve focused on Alice and Kat, figuring out their travels to the past and though we haven’t figured out what it all means, maybe we need Del’s story in order to figure out what all of this means.
Because the time periods are all so different why were they going there? Yes, I get saving Jacob and Kat needing Alice, but also why in the past were Elliot and Alice so close? There is something we’re missing.
THE PERSON THAT WAS LOOKING AT COLTON AND JACOB WAS FROM 1814
Okay, remember when there was the little boy and the woman dressed in the white gown and she told him it was not his time yet? Now remember when the entire Landry family was out in front of their home and everyone went inside but Jacob and Colton?
I think that the person who was looking at them from around the corner was the same woman dressed in white. I think that she was looking to see Jacob and see if it was his time. I think that it was the lady in the white gown.
SAM IS NOT A GOOD GUY
Yes, I am suspicious of everyone. I get that. I think that Sam is purposely trying so hard to get close to Del and he’s from her past. She may not remember him, but he’s a part of her past. I think that he may have been in the periphery of her life, but he needs something from her and she holds a part of something he needs. It’s one of those things that she may not know that she has.
But she has.
Now, I may be way off, and who knows? The thing that I have learned from The Way Home is that you never know what is going to happen.
Is anyone else excited for The Way Home finale? I am. And yet, very anxious! Can’t wait to see what happens.
