This episode of 9-1-1 was certainly not what we were expecting. Based on the previews for “There Goes the Groom”, we thought we were getting a hilarious bachelor party before Maddie and Chimney tied the knot. Well, we did, but it was not the focus of the episode. The focus of 9-1-1 7×06 “There Goes the Groom” was figuring out what happened to Chimney and finding him before it was too late. We review:

Runaway Groom
After the hilarious bachelor party (more on that later), it quickly becomes obvious that something is seriously wrong. Chimney just wouldn’t just run away. We see him behind the wheel of his car, obviously confused, and a stranger tells him it’s not a good idea for him to drive. This stranger was definitely NOT a good Samaritan as he stole Chim’s car! Seriously? What kind of person steals a car from someone who is having a medical emergency?
Chim can’t remember where he’s going, where he works, or most of his life. He does remember Maddie’s ex-husband, though, and has creepy hallucinations. Those hallucinations continue as he thinks he sees Kevin. We did love seeing Kevin again, and he was why Chimney didn’t give up. Because of Kevin, Chim was able to make it back to Mr. and Mrs. Lee’s house and get help. We’re so glad he saw Kevin because otherwise, this episode would have had a much different ending.
There were so many things that we loved about this: even when Chimney didn’t remember most of his life, he remembered how to be a paramedic. He didn’t hesitate to help anyone. Which is pretty incredible considering how sick he was.
We also loved that no one at the 118 gave up. They used their resources and their knowledge to all work together to help find Chimney. And Hen made sure that Maddie knew Chimney wanted to marry her. They really are the best family, and they always look out for each other.

Finally Married
“There Goes the Groom” ends with Maddie and Chimney finally getting married. It’s only taken YEARS for us to get here. And while getting married in a hospital, while the groom recovers from encephalitis probably wasn’t how they imagined it, we’re glad they went ahead with the ceremony.
How cute was Jee-Yun walking with the “it’s a girl” balloon? And everyone Maddie and Chimney love was at the wedding. That’s the important thing. Family and friends are what matters. You don’t have to have a fancy wedding ceremony. And this episode and the hospital wedding made it clear that Maddie and Chimney are so in love. We can’t wait to see more of their life together.

Other Thoughts:
Even though this episode was about Chimney and Maddie, we do like that 9-1-1 was able to sneak in some Buck and Tommy. How cute was Buck when he told Tommy he was a beast and then kissed him? And now everyone knows they’re together. It seemed like Hen was not surprised by Buck’s sexuality by her “It’s about damn time” comment.
And, finally, we have to talk about that bachelor party. At first, it looked like it was a disaster when Chim didn’t show up and everyone except Buck and Eddie left. But then a group of girls show up, and Eddie and Buck definitely enjoy themselves with a LOT of drinks and decide to take the party to Chim. “We’re gonna get an Uber!” they scream. And then they break down the door to his place because they’re firefighters. Of course. Makes total sense.
We need more scenes like this. Okay, maybe not exactly like this because we don’t want Buck and Eddie’s livers to be permanently damaged by drinking so much. But we enjoy the scenes where they have fun and we get to laugh.
Agree? Disagree? What did you think about “There Goes the Groom”?
