Jodie Comer is set to star in a reimagining of Robin Hood and we’re seated. Sure, Hugh Jackman is there too, probably playing Robin Hood if we follow the content clues. But I know my priorities. And those priorities want more people to fall in like/love with Comer because I’m still bitter about what they did to her character Villanelle in the 2018 show Killing Eve.
Titled The Death of Robin Hood, the movie is set to be directed and written by the director of Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One Michael Sarnoski. And according to Deadline, “will see the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battleworn loner who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance at salvation.” Production is set to begin in February 2025.
That mysterious woman has to be Comer. And we’re hoping against hope that Comer gets the story development an actress like her deserves and isn’t swallowed up by the figurehead that is Robin Hood or the star power of Hugh Jackman. Also, that her character doesn’t die because Robin Hood needs to experience pain and whatnot. Jodie Comer deserves better than that and is a star who recently made her Broadway and West End debut in Suzie Miller’s Prime Facie. In addition, she’s set to star in Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later.
Basically, she’s going places and I’m hoping those places are more roles that give her a chance to flex her acting muscles. Also, as revenge for the Killing Eve ending. I’m bitter and I don’t care.
If you’re still here reading this because you appreciate Jodie Comer as an artist, it’s my sworn duty to also inform you that she also has a TV series in development called Big Swiss. It was created by Kayleigh Llewellyn, who not so coincidentally wrote for Killing Eve. According to IMDb, “The protagonist starts a new life in New York, and she lands a job in which she anonymously transcribes sex therapy sessions. She becomes obsessed with one a client, Flavia, also known as “Big Swiss.” Comer plays Flavia aka Big Swiss.
Big Swiss is based on a book by Jen Beagin. The book follows the same basic storyline as the above title. But press releases have left out the part where the protagonist Greta recognizes Big Swiss’s voice in town. And apparently, “While Big Swiss is unaware Greta has eavesdropped on her most intimate exchanges, Greta has never been more herself with anyone. Her attraction to Big Swiss overrides her guilt, and she’ll do anything to sustain the relationship…”
Basically, it’s a good time to be a Jodie Comer fan.
