Chicago P.D. 11×11 “The Water Line” turns the focus back on Kevin Atwater, and though this season has given Kevin Atwater really good isolated storylines, it still doesn’t feel like the show knows what to do with the character long-term. To be fair, it doesn’t feel like the show knows what to do with any character long-term, as the only two that have any kind of sustained storyline at this point are Adam and Kim, and that’s only because they’re together.
LaRoyce Hawkins can absolutely deliver in this kind of story, it would just be nice to see him get something that’s going to advance the character in a way that feels sustained. It’s Season 11. Of course, we care about the characters at this point, after all this time, how could we not? That’s the problem. We care enough we want better for them. We care enough to recognize that the reason we care about them isn’t always great writing. And we care enough to hope for more.
