Welcome to Wrexham isn’t done telling Wrexham AFC’s story! FX has renewed the sports docuseries for a fourth season — only three episodes into its third season. Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, announced the show’s renewal today.
“Wrexham AFC has exceeded all expectations on the pitch and with fans, scoring back-to-back promotions under the leadership of Rob and Ryan and rising to compete in League One next season,” said Grad. That promotion to League One, which the third season illuminates, is the club’s second consecutive promotion in as many years.
Welcome to Wrexham returned with a two-episode premiere — 3×01, “Welcome to the EFL” and 3×02, “Goals” — on Thursday, May 2. Its most recent episode, Welcome to Wrexham 3×03, “Notts Again,” aired on Thursday, May 9.

Welcome to Wrexham‘s current season chronicles Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds‘ stewardship of the Welsh football club as they return to the English Football League, playing in League Two. The docuseries has “unprecedented access on the pitch, bringing viewers inside the locker room and alongside the players, while the action is unfolding in some of the biggest matches Wrexham AFC has ever played,” per its synopsis.
Welcome to Wrexham Season 3 also follows Wrexham AFC’s Women’s Team, who had been promoted to the Welsh Adran Premier League. Presumably, the newly renewed fourth season would continue to follow the Women’s Team’s journey, too.
The docuseries’ season continues with Welcome to Wrexham 3×04, “Risky Business,” on Thursday, May 16, at 10/9c on FX. The episode, like the others, streams the next day on Hulu. During which, “The Birthday Prank War between Co-Chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds escalates as Wrexham is reminded of the fragility of the city’s rebound on and off the field,” according to its description.

“Welcome to Wrexham is scoring big too, winning five Emmy Awards and a fourth season that will continue to document the team’s remarkable journey and its impact on the Wrexham community and growing legion of fans worldwide,” added Grad. One of the Emmy Awards the series won in 2023 was for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program.
McElhenney and Reynolds purchased the world’s third-oldest professional football club in 2020. The rest is documented on Welcome to Wrexham, which premiered in 2022 and received its Season 3 renewal in November 2023.
McElhenney, Reynolds, Josh Drisko, Bryan Rowland, Jeff Luini, Humphrey Ker, Nick Frenkel, George Dewey and Boardwalk Pictures’ Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Sarina Roma, and Andy Thomas executive produce Welcome to Wrexham. More Better Productions, Maximum Effort Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Boardwalk Pictures produce the docuseries.
