Jake Gyllenhaal becomes the prosecuted in the upcoming series Presumed Innocent. Airing on Apple TV+, it’s based on The New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow. The gripping eight-part limited series tells the story of chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal) and the crime he is suspected of committing. The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.
In the official trailer, Presumed Innocent paints the picture of a family man who has everything going for him. He’s got an amazing job, a loving home, and seems to have a healthy & loving bond with his wife played by the talented Ruth Negga. Of course, everything isn’t as it seems as Rusty is having an affair and the woman he’s been sleeping with works with him and is now dead. And the number #1 suspect? You guessed it. Rusty himself. And no matter what he says, or how many times he claims to have not killed her, evidence that proves he was obsessed with her speaks otherwise.
Besides the star-studded cast that also includes Bill Camp, O-T Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Nana Mensah, Renate Reinsve, Peter Sarsgaard, Kingston Rumi Southwick, and Elizabeth Marvel, Presumed Innocent is executive produced by Gyllenhaal. It’s a Bad Robot Productions and David E. Kelley Production in association with Warner Bros. Television. Abrams and Rachel Rush Rich executive produce for Bad Robot. Kelley serves as showrunner and executive produces through David E. Kelley Productions alongside Matthew Tinker.
