We applaud her bluntness…
Here we are, once again, with people speaking out the side of their mouths. Yes, I said what I said. You see, if you want to talk about peoples weight, you need to stop yourself.
No one should be commenting on anyones weight – especially on social media.
Kate Beckinsale is one of the nicest people in Hollywood. I know this personally, but that’s a different story. The actress has been going through a lot this year, judging by social media. We all may not have known why, but we’re not owed any explanation.
However, the actress fired back after a comment on a video that she had posted (which has now been removed) and someone commented on how thin she’s gotten.
“Sorry to say this Kate, but you do look a bit thin.. You always striked a great balance.. But when your cheekbones start to show, the balance is lost … 😢 😢.” the commenter wrote.
Kate responded. She started off the reply with, “I nursed my stepdad dad to his death early this year. My mum also has stuff going on. I am adjusting to watching two fathers die, one when I was 5, one in January of this year. I lost my soulmate cat of almost 19 years, also last year. I spent six weeks in hospital due to copiously vomiting blood from a Mallory Weiss [tear] caused by the stress of a whole year ripping a hole between my [esophagus] and stomach.”
And then continued, “At the same time I experienced a severe flare of my mast cell disease, also mitigated by stress, shock and grief. That’s what I am prepared to disclose that has contributed to some weight loss. What you think of my appearance and how I should look, independently of any circumstances in my life and my family’s is not important.”
Kate divulged more than anyone deserved to know. She didn’t stop there, also discussing being a child and finding her fathers body. We applaud her bluntness.
She said, “I am trying to survive what feel like unbearable losses, reactivated PTSD from discovering my very young father’s almost dead body as a very young child alone in the night, and working to support the family I have left. The fact you fancy girls who are heavier than I am does not feature in things that are important or relevant. The fact you feel your opinion is required to bully females about their appearance is relevant to me because it needs to stop feeling like it is your, or anyone’s right. I don’t care what your taste in women is. I care that you think any of us need to be apprised of it. I will not address this again. Do better.”
We applaud Kate. Standing up for yourself isn’t easy, but it is necessary. We all need to mind our business. Commenting on weight and appearance isn’t something that any of us should do.
