Neon continues teasing audiences with its upcoming horror film Longlegs. Shrouded in mystery, this movie has been dropping terrifying trailers full of cryptic symbols that signal to a serial killer that the lead Maika Monroe‘s Agent Lee Harker must catch after uncovering a series of occult clues at the tail end of a killing spree. That serial killer just so happens to be played by Nicolas Cage.
In the official trailer we got to hear Cage’s voice as he taunted Harker. “I know you’re not afraid of a little bit of dark because you are the dark.” He also says, “You could’ve played nice with me. But you didn’t. And that, has led to all of this. I’ll be waiting.” Combine this with a chilling image of him with his hands in his face, haggard in appearance, and you’ve got a mystery on your hands that theater goers are eager to explore.
Now the latest teaser clip gives us more of a clear glimpse at who Cage’s Longlegs is. This particular teaser has Kiernan Shipka, who plays Carrie Anne Camera, speaking with Harker. She seems to be one of Longlegs victims and recounts how it all feels like a long dream. Camera continues and says, “It’s so dark, a world of dark. Like a nowhere. Between here and there. I don’t ever want to forget him.” This is interspersed with footage of Cage, gruesome murders, and mannequins.

Some people managed to get some screenshots of Cage. In one photo he was dressed in page clothes that matched his pale and haggard appearance. In another screenshot he can be seen kissing a mannequin, his skin having a smooth and almost mannequin texture to it. And the last one shows a screenshot we’ve seen before of Cage with his hands in front of his face.
Whatever ends up happening when Longlegs hits theaters, two things for sure: Nicolas Cage knows how to pick roles and Maika Monroe really is the talent to watch when it comes to horror.
Longlegs hits theaters on July 12, 2024.
