Women in Blue became our new obsession! The story focuses on four strong women who challenged the gender roles of their time and we are definitely here for it. Episode 6 premieres tomorrow and we have an exclusive clip as a preview of what is to come. Ready?
Here we go!
Set in 1971 and inspired by true events, Women in Blue tells the story of four women who defy the ultraconservative norms of the time and join Mexico’s first female police force, only to discover that their squad is a publicity stunt to distract the media from a brutal serial killer.
As the body count grows, María (Bárbara Mori), whose determination to catch the killer becomes an obsession, Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), whose father is a renowned cop, Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana), a brilliant fingerprint analyst, and Valentina (Natalia Téllez), a young rebel, set up a secret investigation to achieve what no male officer has been able to do and bring the serial killer to justice.

In this clip from the next episode of Women in Blue, we see Maria talking about her own personal experience. She always dreamed of being a police officer, but the sexism of the time didn’t take long to impose on her the role of caregiver and housewife, limiting her dreams and personal ambitions.
From a young age, she was told that her duty in life was to clean, cook, and take care of her husband and children. This teaching, so common in her environment, shaped her vision of the world and her own worth for many years… until life hit her with its hardest blow and made her remember who she was.
So Maria challenged gender roles and fought for her dream, fought for herself until she managed to be who she wanted to be. But beyond telling her personal experience, Maria uses her story to send a message to the new generations.
In the clip, she urges children, regardless of their gender, to be themselves. She reminds them not to let the expectations of others define their lives and encourages them to pursue their dreams, explore their interests, and not conform to the roles that society may impose on them. A powerful message that doesn’t fall on deaf ears.
Also, according to the official description, in Women in Blue Episode 6, which is titled “Laura” and airs tomorrow, “the detectives take drastic measures to find answers. María seeks the help of someone who can offer new insight: a convicted serial killer.” This is definitely going to be interesting…
