Celebrities can sometimes be charming. Some remain humble AF, no matter how famous they become. Emma McDonald is one of the most charming and humble celebrities that I have ever interviewed, immediately putting me at ease from the moment that the Zoom opened to her face smiling back at me.
In Starz‘s The Serpent Queen, Emma plays a grown-up Rahima. Rahima was taken from the kitchen in the first series, to become important to Catherine. As Rahima gets older, she remains loyal to Catherine but is loyal to herself above all. In the second season, rather than just being in the background, Rahima is more front and center, able to run things behind the scenes that Catherine doesn’t catch on to.
But should Rahima be one to fear? Who is she loyal to?
Emma said, “She has loyalty to herself. For the start of the season, that makes sense to stay with Catherine. Towards the end, when she gets a better offer, she takes it because she’s living in the world that they all are, and you have to do what it takes to survive and to win out. Potentially as well, by the end of the season, she has not just loyalty to herself, but to another. I’m not sure if that is Alessandra, but it is another. She is silent but deadly. She is pulling the strings. She makes things happen. She is incredibly clever because she has learned from the best.”
If you watch The Serpent Queen then you know that Rahima is one to fear. There is no one more deadly and scarier than someone with nothing to lose.
