Polo, a new sports docuseries from Archewell Productions in partnership with Boardwalk Pictures, will premiere on Netflix this December. To announce the premiere month, the streamer shared four new photos of the upcoming series.
Polo will provide “unprecedented access to the world of professional polo. Known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport, capturing players and all it takes to compete at the highest level,” per its official synopsis.
Netflix filmed the docuseries primarily at the US Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida, at The USPA National Polo Center.

One of the photos features members of the La Dolfina team, founded by Argentinian Adolfo Cambiaso. Rufino Merlos, Poroto Cambiaso, and Tomas Panelo sit on horseback in the photo. Cambiaso has set up three teams under the La Dolfina name – La Dolfina Saudi Polo Team, Cria La Dolfina, and the women’s team, La Dolfina Polo Team.
Polo was announced in April 2024 under Archewell Productions’s multi-year overall deal at Netflix. Deadline exclusively reported that Miloš Balać, who has worked on FX’s award-winning Welcome to Wrexham, would be Polo’s showrunner. Alongside Chanel Pysnik, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex executive produce Polo for Archewell Productions.
The sports docuseries was one of two new nonfiction series from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The other, curated by Markle in partnership with The Intellectual Property Corporation (a part of Sony Pictures Television), “will celebrate the joys of cooking & gardening, entertaining, and friendship.”
Prince Harry’s involvement with Polo isn’t surprising, even considering the Duke and Duchess’s overall deal with the streamer. This docuseries is the second sports series Prince Harry has executive produced with Netflix, the first being Heart of Invictus in 2023.

Plus, Prince Harry is a long-time polo player and fan. He also orchestrates charity matches like the flagship fundraising event for Sentebale, which Prince Harry co-founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006. Sentebale offers “comprehensive support for children and young people, including those living with HIV/AIDS, covering healthcare, critical life skills, education, advocacy, vocational training, and climate resilience in Lesotho and Botswana.”
Polo is executive produced by Andrew Fried, Sarina Roma, and Dane Lillegard for Boardwalk Pictures, as well asBalać and Ian Samplin.
Since signing the deal in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have brought 2022’s Harry & Meghan docuseries and Live to Lead to Netflix. Geoff Blackwell directed the latter. Live to Lead focused on interviews with world leaders and influencers, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Greta Thunberg, Bryan Stevenson, Jacinda Ardern, Siya Kolisi, Gloria Steinem, and Albie Sachs. There are no additional details about Markle’s non-fiction project yet.
Polo is one of many sports docuseries that have premiered on Netflix recently. Tour de France: Unchained Season 2 premiered in June. LALIGA: All Access and RECEIVER debuted on the streamer in July. Plus, Simone Biles Rising will wrap up its two-part drop next month.
