Love is Blind season 7 tests what it means to fall in love…again. Do looks, money, and other things matter when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? Again, we are watching a bunch of hopefuls navigate these questions in season 7 of the series. And since we can’t control selves (as evidenced by our season 3, 4, 5, 6 breakdowns), here is our breakdown of the first 6 episodes of season 7!
1. How does this season compare to the last 6 and the international spinoffs?
Lizzie: I feel like this one’s better than the last few seasons in the drama department! I mean, there was drama. More than I expected considering this one also has a lot of couples that seem like they could make it? It’s such a weird combo. And the way Netflix divided up the episodes does promise more drama is coming! But I’m not sure when we’re talking about the international versions. Because, Love is Blind: Mexico, for example, was a very different and engaging kind of drama. And I kinda dug Love is Blind: UK more than any of the US versions since Season 3. Maybe, in the end, the franchise was just right to expand. More Love is Blind hasn’t been a bad thing. There’s clearly drama to be had everywhere in the world.
Lyra: So far, I feel like it’s kind of tame. Some of the drama I’ve seen hasn’t been anything to write home about. It’s light somehow while also having red flags left and right in comparison to all the other seasons and spin-offs. Seriously, I don’t think some of these people should make it out of the pods with some of these red flags or even get engaged. But nevertheless, here we are once again, watching more Love is Blind because Netflix knows we like garbage.

2. Is there any couple that makes you feel like love is truly blind and why?
Lizzie: This is a tricky question, because this show always edits it in a way to deliberately confuse you in the beginning! But I like the vibe between Marissa and Ramses. I feel like they could work well together, if they put in the work. They are the ones I feel the best about.
Lyra: Taking into consideration the edit, like Lizzie pointed out, I’m getting some genuine connections from Marissa & Ramses and Monica & Stephen. I do think that the latter couple here has way too many red flags for me to even consider either of them as a suitable partner. But maybe messy people being messy together will save the rest of us. Even then, they’re on this show trying to find love and I’m just sitting here judging them.

3. Which couple do you feel IS NOT going to make it and why?
Lizzie: Alex and Tim. Even without that cliffhanger, they were giving eh what the hell is going on here from the moment the two actually spent some time together. The jokes were cringe, it didn’t seem like they were understanding each other and very early on they gave “we’re sticking it out” but not really here for it. I don’t think they click at all, and they can only pretend their issues aren’t as big as they are for a little bit. No way they both get to the altar and say yes.
Lyra: I want to say Leo and Brittany. But…we already know how that turned out. Besides Marissa and Ramses, I don’t think any of the couples are going to make it in season 7 of Love is Blind. Hannah and Nick are especially not going to make it. They are on the wrong page, especially in Mexico. And it’s giving me flashbacks of Zanab and Cole. Both have their own truths and neither want to consider each other.

4. Who is the drama of this season?
Lizzie: Not just Alex and Tim, definitively Hannah and Nick too, who I also don’t see lasting. And they’re the drama because they’re not communicating! I actually feel they probably fit together a bit better than Alex and Tim, even if I’m not sure Hannah really likes Nick as much as she’s pretending she does. But Alex and Tim are still number one, because what was that at the end of this first batch of episodes and why didn’t we see what happened? Love is Blind has cameras everywhere, so I’m super concerned about the fact that we didn’t actually see what went on between them. Why hide it if there’s footage? Considering the allegations from contestants of previous seasons, it’s impossible not to wonder what happened here. Hopefully, we get some answers.
Lyra: I’m going to cheat on this one because we’re talking about the first six episodes of Love is Blind season 7. I’m going to say Leo. He’s the drama. He tries to act like he’s above drama, flaunting his wealth left and right. But when it really comes down to it, he’s mean and cutthroat. That conversation with Hannah in the pods where he was berating her was cringe and I would turn around just like Hannah was. Leo doesn’t care for these women or the actual experiment. Instead, it’s giving I’ll do anything to get out of these pods and on the show. Which is probably reality TV’s biggest problem: we don’t know who is there to just be the next big reality star.

5. What’s the messiest moment in Mexico that more people need to talk about?
Lizzie: Was Mexico that messy? I mean, I’ve already talked about that Alex and Tim moment, which absolutely takes the cake and I haven’t even gotten to bring up how messy Leo was in the pods and how much the show lost by not bringing Leo and Brittany to Mexico. Did anyone like them? No! Were they good together? I don’t think so! But would they have brought the drama? Hell yes. And isn’t what the show is all about? Oh, wait, I’m being told is about finding love. Sorry.
Lyra: The messiest moment for me in Mexico was the whole thing about Nick, Hannah, and the tourist. Unless they’re giving Hannah the “unhinged partner” edit, I don’t agree with her. We saw the scene and how it went down with all three of them. And when Hannah recounted the story later on, that didn’t match anything that we’d seen on screen. But again, it could be the edit. The edit can change things drastically. Just think she was making a mountain out of a molehill and they’re not on the same page just like Zanab and Cole were in season 3.

6. How did season 7 of Love is Blind rate when it comes to diversity?
Lizzie: I’ll give it this, better than other seasons! We have Afro-latinos! Imagine that! And Asian representation! And the couples are not cookie cutter white people, interchangeable from each other. I wouldn’t have expected it from the show, no matter where the season is set, because they did manage to cast mostly light skinned Latinos in Love is Blind: Mexico, so there is that. But the season felt like a step forward in this regard. Let’s see if they keep it up.
Lyra: Agree with Lizzie on all fronts above. Diversity wise, we’ve got range here. But there’s still work to do, especially when it comes to body types. Where are the thick girls or thick guys on Love is Blind season 7? Personally, I’d love to see more women like Alexa from season 3. And I would love for big ol’ bear of a man to get a chance at love. Did we not learn anything when people lost it over Brett over on The Bachelorette? The show needs to do better as well when it comes to disabilities. People with disabilities want love too!
