Virgin River Season 6 wrapped filming in June, and now Netflix has confirmed the show will indeed be coming our way this year. That’s right, Virgin River Season 6 has a release date …and it is December 19th!
This means Netflix is a trickster, because it kept the show out of possible 2024 release lists, making us think we would have to wait until 2025. But we’re going to be honest, we don’t really mind. We’ll take the win on this one. We want it now. Particularly because Season 6 is set to have fewer episodes than the show gave us in Season 5. That’s right, Season 6 is set to only have 10 episodes.
The news was confirmed by writer Ildiko Susany during an interview with The Writers Perspective.

Virgin River‘s 10-episode count isn’t actually out of the norm for the series. The show’s first three seasons had 10 episodes, with Seasons 4 and 5 going up to 12 episodes respectively.
Susany also confirmed Season 6 of the show will focus more on Mel and Jack, something fans of the show will probably be very, very pleased about. The show, which at times is more an ensemble than anything, has nevertheless had the two of them at the center since the beginning — and with the will they/won’t they firmly in the rearview mirror, some focus on their romance wouldn’t go amiss.
That and a chance for them to, you know, be happy. There’s been too much drama in their lives. Let them smile. Give us some domesticity. And let some of the other couples around them get a chance at some actual joy, too. We don’t want to just see couples get together, we want to enjoy the romance after the fact too. That’s the beauty of multiple seasons of a romance! Domestic bliss. Please be giving us some of that. Oh, and that answer to the cliffhanger about Mel’s dad, please. We need that too.
