Here we go!
The Meaning of Being a Mentor in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 4 ‘The Killer Bride’

As we discussed in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 4 preview, Wolf takes a step further in his particular way of treating and understanding his patients. And really, really, someone has to set limits for him. We love Oliver and we understand why he needs to do what he does and that, thanks to him, his patients heal beyond their bodies but everything has to have a limit. In Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 4 ‘The Killer Bride’ Oliver got to it.
This time he didn’t just put himself in danger, he dragged his interns along, especially Dana. The interns are there to learn from him, to be taught and guided by Oliver, not to be their babysitters. And Dana had to be just that in this episode: his babysitter. Oliver left her alone to keep him out of trouble and try to trace the patient’s last steps. And that’s not fair.
So yes, we wanted to shake Oliver up in this episode to knock some sense into his brain. And we identified with Nichols when he realized what Oliver had done and looked at him with a mix of disappointment and resignation as if he was hopeless and had grown tired of trying.
Luckily, in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 4 ‘The Killer Bride’ Nichols tried again with Oliver, just as he had in Brilliant Minds Episode 3, he didn’t give up on him and let him know that this time he had crossed the line. He wasn’t being a good doctor by putting himself in danger and he wasn’t being a good mentor either.
We realized that Oliver listened to Nichols and only him — and this speaks volumes about our ship — which led him to realize that Nichols was right. Because of this, he apologized to Dana and understood that he wasn’t going down the right path.
On another note, if Oliver’s madness in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 4 ‘The Killer Bride’ served any purpose, it was to find out more about his past. His parents’ divorce was tough and his father put Oliver, a child, in an incredibly painful situation. He was the adult and he put the responsibility of choosing between his father and his mother on a child.
Whatever he chose, Oliver was going to feel guilty, simply because the adults who were supposed to take care of him, decided to shirk their responsibility and pass it on to him. Oliver never had to be in the position of choosing one of his parents, they should have arranged things so that both could be in his life. But that didn’t happen and it’s a burden Oliver has carried on his back his whole life. Although, honestly, we think there’s more to this story…
Patients Who Worth the Time

On the other hand, while Dana is with Oliver, Ericka, and Jacob are in charge of the unnamed patient in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 4 ‘The Killer Bride’ only he’s being a jerk about it. And we can’t stand Jacob. His arrogance got on our nerves. Not every case is going to be fascinating, and not every patient is going to have an incredible story behind them, but they all have a story, and they all deserve to be treated with the same diligence.
Also, being a doctor is Ericka’s dream and she works hard to not lose the position she had to fight to have and being responsible with her job and Jacob makes it seem like that’s a bad thing. Maybe she wouldn’t be so nervous if she didn’t have to do everything alone, just saying. So thank goodness Jacob gets to put his stuff together and be a doctor, which is what he’s there for, not to make out with nurses in the middle of their shifts.
The job has results, which will hopefully teach Jacob a lesson or two about telling which patients are worth his time and which aren’t.
Brilliant Minds airs Tuesdays at 10 pm ET on NBC.
I feel like… matter of fact I know that we’re getting closer our ship the chemistry is off the chart LOL. Can we please make up a ship name if there isn’t one already 🥺😭
