Apple TV+ is expanding its sports entertainment library with the first all-access docuseries about the world of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) World Series. The three-part documentary will offer an exclusive behind-the-scenes exploration of the 2024 World Series. The all-access and currently untitled documentary event will feature interviews with players, coaches, fans, journalists, and family members.
Award-winning filmmaker R.J. Cutler directs and Five-time World Series Champion Derek Jeter executive produces this immersive project about the Fall Classic. According to Apple TV+’s description, the documentary will follow “each team’s battle to capture the most storied trophy in American sports, a World Series Championship.”

This announcement comes on the heels of Apple TV+ completing its third season as the exclusive home of Friday Night Baseball. The docuseries will also sit alongside the streamer’s other sports-centric nonfiction programming, including The Dynasty: New England Patriots, Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend, and Stephen Curry: Underrated. Apple TV+ will also release a film about the seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton.
This MLB docuseries also comes after Netflix released the trailer for its docuseries, The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox, which follows the Boston Red Sox to their first World Series victory after an 86-year drought. That three-episode documentary premieres on Wednesday, October 23, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the team’s groundbreaking postseason run. Apple TV+ has not released a premiere date for its MLB docuseries. That said, the streamer has shared that it is currently in production.
The project is produced in partnership with MLB and award-winning Imagine Documentaries, R.J. Cutler’s acclaimed This Machine, a part of Sony Pictures Television, and Derek Jeter’s production company, Cap 2 Productions. Jeter, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Cutler, Nick Trotta, Justin Wilkes, Sara Bernstein, Marc Gilbar, Mark Blatty, Trevor Smith, and Justin Yungfleisch executive produce the docuseries.
