We’re back! High Potential Season 1 Episode 7 ‘One of Us’ is the fall finale of the show and it says goodbye in style meanwhile the case of the week serves as a backdrop for a turning point in the relationship between Morgan and Ava. Ready?
Here we go!
Mothers and Daughters with Complicated Relationships

As hinted at in the episode preview, High Potential Season 1 Episode 7 ‘One of Us’ is an intense one. Although the main focus is the case of the week, that serves as a backdrop for the episode to show us some emotional moments between Morgan and Ava that make their relationship closer. The relationship between them has always been complex. On the one hand, Ava feels somewhat out of place when she sees that her brother and mother not only share her great intelligence but a connection that she never managed to have with Morgan.
On the other hand, the unknowns of Ava’s past and the different ways in which she and Morgan deal with it have always been like a wall that stands between them. All of this added to the difficult age that Ava is at, in which she is struggling to find her own identity and independence, making the relationship between Ava and Morgan not the best and neither of them can be aware of how much they care about each other.
High Potential Season 1 Episode 7 ‘One of Us’ broke down all the walls between them. The first detail to highlight is that on her “yes day” Ava wanted to go to LAPD to learn about her mother’s work. That already shows that she wanted to get closer to her. Although neither she nor Morgan expected what was going to happen next. Some criminals take the police station by storm and Morgan immediately gets worried. Ava is there and nothing can happen to her. Morgan would die if something happened to her. Morgan just wants Ava to get out of there.

Turning Point

But Ava has other plans. She can’t just walk away and leave her mother in danger. She doesn’t exactly have a plan but she just knows…she can’t do it. She’d rather be in danger with her than be safe outside, worried sick. However, events speed up and Ava ends up having to do just that, which brings us to our favorite scene of the episode: Morgan and Ava’s goodbye.
The situation was really tense and volatile in High Potential Season 1 Episode 7 ‘One of Us’ so neither of them knew what was going to happen in the next few minutes, they might as well be saying goodbye forever, even if they didn’t want to think about it. Ava didn’t want to walk away and leave Morgan there, she didn’t want to abandon her, but Tom needed her and, most importantly, her mother needed her. Morgan needed her to be strong enough to leave her behind and get out of there, to get to safety and help Tom. So Ava bites the bullet and does it. She’s strong for both of them.
And it’s beautiful to watch. It’s a tense, emotional, but beautiful situation. There are no more walls between Morgan and Ava at this point. Everything that separates them, doesn’t exist. They’ve realized how important they are to each other, and how much they love each other, and that changes everything. Morgan ends up saving the day, as always, and that gives her and Ava the chance to start over, after this big turning point in their relationship. Can’t wait!
