Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 7 ‘Untouchable‘ is a good episode of TV that lets Severide and Pascal work together and shows us a different side of Chief Pascal. Is he a guy we could like? Maybe. He’s clearly not the straight arrow Boden was, and he’s not going to be the Firehouse 51 dad. But perhaps he can be the uncle who sometimes makes bad decisions but you still more or less root for because he’s doing it to protect you and your family.
Ironically, that the episode closes off the Bishop storyline is probably a really bad omen for what’s to come in the fall finale. Because, if Chicago Fire loves something, it’s to leave us hanging when there’s a hiatus coming. This would have been a pretty simple storyline to stretch for another episode so they could do just that. Now …now we don’t know what’s coming.

THIS IS MIAMI ALL OVER AGAIN

Monica Pascal saying, “this is Miami all over again,” is actually our first clue that whatever happened in Miami with Pascal wasn’t actually a bad thing. Or well, it might have been a bad thing, but it’s not something that makes him a truly bad guy. Just probably a guy with, eh, some creative problem-solving ideas. And in a way, it even explains why she’s fed up if she’s been in danger over and over again due to the fact that he’s “not the bad guy.”
We’re not sure yet, of course. Pascal is clearly a guy who has angered a lot of people in his time, and his relationship with Monica is volatile at best. But this guy, the guy we saw this episode, is actually someone we could like. Someone we could root for. And more importantly, someone who can fit in at Firehouse 51.
It’s not about replacing Boden. It never has been. He could never. There’s just one Wallace Boden. But change is the way of life, and for a while there it seemed like this wasn’t going to be a good change—or worse, that it would be a really, really bad one. Now, we’re not sure it has to be. Sure, there’s still a long way to go, and we still have a lot of secrets to uncover. But there’s also hope.

HIT THEM WHERE IT HURTS

Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 7 ‘Untouchable’ has Bishop attempting to hit both Severide and Pascal where it hurts, aka their wives. Their family. And it is, ironically, the one thing that truly makes Severide and Pascal see eye to eye. If there’s one thing the two seem to have in common is how much they love their wives. Sure, they were working fine together before, but there’s nothing like danger to make you feel like you are part of the same team.
A man like Bishop, of course, never considers veiled threats against women a mistake. He thinks he’s got everything under control and that if no one has caught him yet, then no one will. He’s, of course, underestimating both Severide and Pascal, but it’s not even just about that. He’s also overestimating himself.
If they get him in the end is because Pascal is willing to go, ahem, the extra mile and break a rule or two. But it’s hard to really care as much about what Pascal did when we consider no one got hurt, the bad guy was captured and both Stella and Monica are now safe. Plus, was that the beginning of a new tradition with Severide and Pascal? We’re almost afraid of the answer.

Things I think I think:
- Don’t you dare say bad things about Stella, weird chick Carver is “dating.”
- “I told you, you trust him.”
- Mouch is basically overprepared at this point.
- “Your reputation precedes you.”
- IF YOU DARE HURT STELLA, I WILL …not sure, but I WILL SOMETHING.
- My heart melted at Stella calling Kelly right away, though. And his obvious concern, too.
- Pascal and Severide figuring things out was kinda cool.
- “Not for him.” Oooh that’s big.
- Don’t compare yourself to Stellaride, Tori. Go away.
- I love Novak and Violet.
- Yeah, not casual Violet. You are not casual at all.
- State Police at Pascal’s house, so shocking.
- “This is Miami all over again,” okay, okay that’s actually a GOOD SIGN regarding Pascal.
- “Bishop should be scared. Of us.”
- “Home was a dark, messed up place for both of us.”
- WHAT DO YOU MEAN DON’T GO INTO WORK? His work means something to him!
- Leave her, Carver. She’s not to be trusted.
- Yeah, Violet, “solid” isn’t a compliment.
- FUNNY how the turntables, Bishop.
- Severide smiling when Stella leaves.
- I said, “go away Tori,” didn’t think she’d take me at my word.
- Cruz and Mouch’s storyline was kinda nice.
- Oh, she invited the dude to Molly’s.
- A CIGAR CHAT? WITH PASCAL? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?
- “All that matters is he won’t be messing with our family again.”
- Severide ain’t even MAD.
