Twisted Patients on Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 9 ‘The Colorblind Painter’

On Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 9 ‘The Colorblind Painter’ Carol’s situation with her new patient escalates into violence. Talking about the elephant in the room, Carol didn’t do things right here. Immediately after finding out who this woman was, she should have referred her to another colleague, because continuing to treat her is a clear conflict of interest.
But Carol didn’t do this, she kept treating her. And she made excuses to herself as to why. She told herself that she was doing it for her because she had threatened to hurt herself if she didn’t continue treating her, but in reality, Carol was doing it out of that morbid need to know exactly what happened between this woman and her husband, which ends up leading her to feel sorry for herself and bad for not having realized it before and forgiving him.
Carol’s spiral of self-destruction in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 9 ‘The Colorblind Painter’ is such that she does not realize, or even contemplate, that this woman is lying. She knew exactly who Carol was when she came to her, we are sure of that, now more than ever. And, if this woman has been so twisted as to insert herself into Carol’s life pretending to be another patient, she may very well be lying to torture Carol and destroy her marriage.
And don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t have forgiven this guy, but Carol decides to do so and this woman is making her feel bad about it with lies, destroying, in the process, what Carol decided to save… and Carol must not allow it. Besides, beyond this woman’s twisted intentions, it’s clear that she needs help and the wife of the guy she’s involved with is not the right one for it because she’s not objective, and even less so when this woman seems to have an unhealthy dependent relationship with Carol.
So this situation couldn’t continue like this in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 9 ‘The Colorblind Painter’ because it wasn’t doing anyone any good. This woman wasn’t getting the help she so clearly needed and all of this was destroying Carol, so we’re glad that Oliver was there for her and made her see that it was time to do what she had to do… although it doesn’t seem like this was the end.

The Consequences of Not Communication

Markus and Ericka’s happiness was short-lived in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 9 ‘The Colorblind Painter.’ But that was only logical since they’re both not on the same page about what their relationship means. For her, it’s nothing serious, just fun. But for Markus, it’s much more because he has special feelings for Ericka. However, instead of talking about it — since Ericka has a right to know so she can decide what to do — Markus decides to pretend that for him it was all fun until everything explodes in the worst way.
Every time Jacob asked him about his new relationship, Markus remembered Ericka’s words and it hurt like knives. Plus, seeing Jacob…it’s like a constant reminder that Ericka has feelings for him and he can’t help but feel jealous and doubt. Put all that together with Jacob insisting too much and we have Markus’ screaming explosion.
Also, we don’t forget that the show didn’t give us an explanation about this change regarding Ericka. Does she no longer have feelings for Jacob? Does she also like Markus or is she just attracted to him? Is she with Markus out of spite or does her feelings for Jacob have nothing to do with that?
These are questions that the series left hanging since the previous episode and Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 9 ‘The Colorblind Painter’ doesn’t do any work to clarify anything, on the contrary. On the first occasion that they had any problems, Ericka cut them off at the root, without communicating with Markus. They work together and intend to hide what is emerging between them from everyone, of course, it’s going to be complicated, it’s about navigating the complicated together, if both think that it is worth it, of course.

Other Stuff in Brilliant Minds Season 1 Episode 9 ‘The Colorblind Painter’

- We miss Nichols! We can’t believe we didn’t see him even once…
- But we love seeing Oliver leaving those messages…he’s slowly letting him in.
- We have to admit we got a little worried when Nichols didn’t answer.
- The note!!!!
- And that last call…our babies!
- We have to admit it hurt to see Oliver in the past. After what happened in the previous episode, Oliver feels a lot of anger and resentment towards his mother but he also feels ashamed, even though he hates feeling that way. So he’s desperate to find something that will help him escape from his life, from his situation. But, after seeing his father again, he feels that only by taking drugs can he see him and be close to him, which is not healthy…
- Even though we love her, Carol was too hard on Ericka and Dana.
- Does Markus have a son?! WTF?!
