Some movies define a part of your life – they stick with you and they are a part of memories. Memories that define a part of who you are and what you do. The Toy Story franchise is one of those things for us. We can recall family bonding, laughter, and core memories with others.
And that is why we’re always happy when we hear about more Toy Story movies. We feel like there is always space for more Toy Story movies.
Tim Allen has been out promoting his upcoming show, Shifting Gears, and in an interview with Collider (Published 12/27) talked about Toy Story 5. Yes, that’s right – there will be a Toy Story 5. As you may remember, Allen voices the iconic Buzz Lightyear.
In the interview, Allen said, “I just did the first five-hour session for Buzz, probably a week ago. It’s really, really weird to get back in it. I can’t tell you anything.”
He added, “It’s a very, very clever story.”
The first Toy Story movie came out in 1995. Though that feels like just yesterday, it’s been a hot minute. The first movie was followed up with Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010) and Toy Story 4 (2019). There’s been a lot of shorts, and then there was the Buzz Lightyear spinoff – but Tim Allen didn’t voice Buzz there. In the Buzz Lightyear spinoff, Chris Evans voiced Buzz.
He had so much praise for the fifth installment and continued by saying, “Do you wanna do five of these? I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s really clever. It was really a struggle to get, and then maybe two hours in, I was doing Buzz. I’m so blessed to be Buzz Lightyear, to be honest. It’s gonna be fun. I think we’re a year out. I’ve gotten up to the third act. We’ll do the third act. And then, we’ll go back and clean it. And then, I’ll do it about five more times. It’s a really good story, guys. It’s really good.”
We can’t wait for the fifth installment, which is set to come out in 2026.
