Finn Wolfhard continues to expand on his career options as Stranger Things starts to wind down. The Netflix show is set to premiere it’s 5th season in 2025. And just like Millie Bobby Brown, Joe Keery, Maya Hawk, David Harbour and more, Wolfhard is hard at exploring different facets of career that includes taking on bigger projects, exploring music, and dabbling in a film or too. Now he’s taking on directing and writing with Hell of a Summer.
Hell of a Summer is a horror slasher straight out of the Friday the 13th handbook. We’ve got sleepy little camp in the woods. Check. We’ve also young camp counselors. Check. You can’t forget the killer! Check. And it’s Wolfhard’s first feature film as director and writer. He’s previously directed and written two short films titled Night Shifts and Spendtie Palace: Sonora. He’s directing and writing this horror slasher alongside Billy Bryk, who might be recognizable to Wynonna Earp fans because he played Billy Clanton is season 4.
MORE: Did you know Finn Wolfhard isn’t the only cast member from Stranger Things with a music career?
On the cast side of things, there is another really familiar face playing the 24-year-old camp counselor responsible for all the other counselors: Fred Hechinger. In 2024 he had roles in Thelma, Nickel Boys, and Kraven the Hunter. But it’s his role as Emperor Caracalla in Gladiator II that might be the reason why people recognize his face. Let’s just hope he survives this one and doesn’t suffer the same fate as some of his previous characters. Doubt it though with a killer on the loose.
Summary:
Hell of a Summer follows 24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg (Hechinger), who arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is that he feels out of touch with his teenage co-workers.
