The Old Guard 2 is coming, and we now know when. Netflix has announced that the sequel to the Charlize Theron-led The Old Guard will be released on the streamer on July 2, 2025. The movie follows a group of immortal mercenaries who, after being discovered, must fight to protect their secret.
Alongside the date announcement, Netflix also released the logline for The Old Guard 2, which reads: “Andy and her team of immortal warriors return to protect humanity from a formidable new enemy who threatens their existence.”
The movie is directed by Victoria Mahoney from a screenplay by Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker. That’s really good news considering the movie is based on the graphic novel by Greg Rucka and Illustrated by Leandro Fernandez. The Old Guard 2 stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngô, Henry Golding, with Uma Thurman and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
In case you need a reminder, here’s the trailer for the first movie:
The movie was a success when it premiered, and not just because of the way it adapted the existing material. It was also because of the storylines between these characters. One thing people were particularly enamored of was the relationship between Nicky and Joe. The two are set to return for The Old Guard 2.
The Old Guard 2 is coming to Netflix in July.
