Love is Blind season 8 tests what it means to fall in love…again. Do looks, money, and other things matter when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? Again, we are watching a bunch of hopefuls navigate these questions in Love is Blind Season 8, Episodes 7-9. And since we can’t control ourselves (as evidenced by Love is Blind season 8 episodes 1-6 breakdown), here is our breakdown of episodes 7-9 of season 8!
1. How have your opinions of the couples changed after this batch of episodes? Who do you think is definitely making it to the altar?

Lizzie: I now know too much and am not at all naive about these people’s chances. I was very high on Monica and Joey, but it now seems to me like something is lacking from their interactions. I think he likes her, but I’m not sure he’s as into her as he should be. I absolutely abhor Dave, who cannot have a single thought for himself, and I’m sure he and Lauren won’t make it. Think Sara is probably going to realize what a sleazeball Ben is before the wedding. I kinda like Taylor and Daniel more than expected, particularly considering how this batch of episodes started. And I have zero thoughts on Virginia and Devin. Zero. Like, eh… they’re there? I like her, but they’re giving me nothing.
Lyra: I feel like my whole perspective has shifted with Love is Blind Season 8 episodes 7-9. Before I thought that Monica and Joey were going to make it. Their connection seemed genuine. But the more I watch, the more they seem like friends. And then there’s Dave and Lauren. Why is he being so rude? Why isn’t he listening to his partner? It’s toxic. And Taylor and Daniel, I didn’t know you had it in you but I actually think they have a chance. Everyone else, still don’t care. And that’s unfortunate.
2. Let’s talk about Dave and Lauren. He continues to listen to his friends when it comes to Lauren and her dating history before the pods. What’s your take on the whole situation?

Lizzie: I think Dave is the kind of person who takes his queues about how to feel from other people, and that’s not someone you want to be involved with. First of all, I don’t think he has any room to judge Lauren for stuff she did BEFORE meeting him. If she was having sex two hours before getting on the plane, that still wouldn’t be his business because they hadn’t met and there was no guarantee they were going to meet. And I also don’t truly believe this other guy didn’t “know” it was casual. Yeah, right.
But Dave is just… he hasn’t given Lauren a chance to talk to anyone, so he’s not actually giving their relationship a fair try. And he was giving ick since he asked absolutely everyone if they were having sex at the first cast party, too! Is he just mad Lauren didn’t have sex with him right away but had a friends with benefits?
Lyra: I think the problem with Dave started before they even got back to Minneapolis. He likes to be the sole focus of a woman. And it really hurts his pride that Lauren was hooking up with someone before the pods but she won’t have sex with him. He goes on to disrespect her over and over asking the rest of the contestants if they’ve had sex yet. When is he going to talk to her about? Or just about anything? Even with the friends and sister, bring them. If they have things to say, bring it out into the open because he’s listening to them because his pride is hurt again. I don’t even like Lauren like that and she is doing everything in his power to make him believe her, and he doesn’t care. Instead, that kitchen scene at the end reminded me of Kenneth after he broke up with Brittany in season 6. That was cold. So is this.
3. Sara has discovered the TikTok videos calling out Ben and his behavior. Why is she still with him? Did Ben lie?

Lizzie: I think it’s probably hard at that moment to break it off right away when you think you know someone and the negative information you’re getting is coming from someone you don’t know. This happened to Ashley last season, too! But girl, trust us, you should have run the other way since he said he didn’t have an opinion on BLM. You truly cannot teach fundamental values and right now you’re compromising.
Lyra: Sara hasn’t left Ben yet… because she’s about performative action. In Love is Blind Season 8 episodes 1-6 she went on to ask him about BLM. And his answer was a red flag. Her accepting his proposal was also a red flag and a sign that she doesn’t stand for what she believes in. So maybe she’s staying with Ben because even bad videos about him don’t matter to her. It’s a performance. And she went through a performance to get out of the pods. Now this is another performance to look good on the show.
4. Joey met Monica’s family and it seems like her sister doesn’t like Joey. Is this going to be a dealbreaker?

Lizzie: This in particular, I don’t think so. Her family seemed very open, and her sister suitably wary. They share a sock bin, these people are CLOSE. But I still don’t get the vibes from Monica and Joey that I think we should be getting at this point of the show. Sure, Joey mentioned not liking PDA at one point, but is it that or does he not like Monica?
Lyra: Monica’s sister annoyed me. And I’m glad that Joey brought up the question as to where her sister ever approved of her partner. All fair questions. My issue comes in that the initial spark I saw between Monica and Joey, it’s fallen flat. And it’s not even about Joey possibly not liking PDA. Some people don’t like that and we have to respect that. But even without PDA, people have sparks or that love look in their eye. They’re giving friends. And I hope they realize that soon rather than later.
5. What are your thoughts on Devin and Virginia having a prenup?

Lizzie: Good for them! I’m with you, Virginia, 100%. That’s not an indictment on the relationship at all, it’s just good business sense. Taking it as a sign of lack of faith is the same thing as saying using condoms is not believing in God’s plan when you get pregnant. You are a responsible adult who can make your own plans, why leave it all to chance?
Lyra: Ohhhh Lizzie’s response is on point. I don’t think I’ve ever thought of prenups like that. We can’t predict the future. But we can still prepare it. It’s like insurance? Do you expect to get sick? No. But you prepare. If the day ever comes, you have that safety net. So good for Devin and Virginia!
6. Are Daniel and Taylor going to make it? Because the vibes they’re giving have changed.

Lizzie: You know why I think they will? Because they merged the families already. That’s rare and a sign of two people who are really committed to seeing this through. And I actually have really liked Daniel with Taylor, even when she had that moment of doubt about whether he was previously following her on Instagram.
Lyra: That spark that I was talking about earlier with Monica and Joey, I saw it these episodes with Daniel and Taylor. It started with the “Bueller” sync up. And then it followed with how they look at each other and the families coming together. Even Taylor taking off her shoes in his families house, those are tiny indicators that there is respect there. And I kind of want to see more of them and what got them here.
7. What are your thoughts on mainstream music use on Love is Blind season 8?

Lizzie: At first I was like oh, cool. But it truly takes me out. It doesn’t add anything and I shouldn’t be getting distracted by the music.
Lyra: I’m with Lizzie. At first it showed that Love is Blind season 8 has grown exponentially. But now? It’s lost it’s charm. I loved how cheesy those independent artists were. It made this show unique. Now it’s feeling more and more like any reality TV show out there.
Love is Blind Season 8 Episodes 1-9 are available on Netflix.
