Love is Blind season 8 tests what it means to fall in love…again. Do looks, money, and other things matter when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? Again, we are watching a bunch of hopefuls navigate these questions in Love is Blind Season 8. And since we can’t control ourselves (as evidenced by Love is Blind season 8 episodes 1-6 breakdown, episodes 7-9 breakdown, and our episodes 10-12 breakdown), here is our breakdown of episode 13 of season 8!
1. Did Sara make the right decision by telling Ben that she didn’t want to marry or date him?

Lizzie: Absolutely. 100%. No decision has ever been more correct than Sara running away from Mr. “I haven’t given BLM any thought,” and “My Church preaches against LGBTQ+ people” but really, truly, deep down, they love everyone and there was the doozy she brought up about the vaccine too. No, no. When someone thinks you’re bad enough that they sit down to make a TikTok about you, that should be a red flag, and someone thought Ben was bad enough that they did that. So, yeah. Good on you, Sara. You gave the man more opportunities than he probably deserved, but I’m glad you put yourself first.
Lyra: Sara 100% made the right decision to tell Ben no. Even more, I cackled when he suggested dating. I could see the panic in her eyes. That panic when a man tries to corner you into something and you kind of say “yes” or “let’s talk about it later” to get out of the situation.
Even though I’m proud that Sara passed on Ben and told him no, she’s still suspect. He shared his views on BLM in the pods and she still said yes. That was a choice. It was probably to get out of the pods and stay longer on the show cuz internet fame. But still. A choice. A performative one.
2. Why did Virginia say no to Devin?

Lizzie: Virginia said no to Devin because that man was hiding some toxic, ultra-conservative views or something. There were some red flags out there and the more Virginia talked about him, the more I wanted her to run. I’m glad she did, even though it seemed like she wanted to jump into the fire. This was the season of women choosing themselves, and I was really proud of them, truly. Because what do you mean he asked if you voted with your faith? That’s some Republican-coded shit?! I vote with my brain, because that’s what you should be voting with!
Girl, not even a prenup was gonna save you from this one. Glad you ran.
Lyra: It took Virginia saying no for me to realize she’s been dumbing herself down for Devin. All season there have been comments about her talking in a sweet low tone and possibly being AI. And she says no to Devin and BOOM her post-wedding interview was a completely different woman. Where was this woman the entire time?! I didn’t get to meet this woman. I wanted more of her.
I’m also really looking forward to the Love is Blind season 8 reunion. Because Devin is definitely hiding stuff. He was already giving super conservative vibes with money issues. And then you throw in the sneaking of the wedding money, yeah it’s a no. Walk away. That’s a problem waiting for you in the future.
3. Were you surprised by Monica saying “no” to Joey? And what’s up with Monica’s sister?!

Lizzie: I was, but I was also glad. Like, we all deserve a man who truly wants us. A man who dreams about marrying us. One who makes us a priority. And I just don’t think that was Joey, who seemed like a decent guy. He just wasn’t Monica’s guy, and that’s okay. It’s better to recognize it than to settle for something that’s less than you deserve. I’m proud of Monica, who made a really hard decision, because unlike Virginia and Sara, she wasn’t walking away from anything toxic. She was just holding out for what she deserved.
Also, Monica’s sister… man, it was giving me Latino families who are just never happy vibes. It could also be the edit, though! It’s so hard to judge when we’re seeing little moments that could be edited to show us what they want us to see. But the Latina in me is so very much like, man, why are we always judging?
Lyra: Having watched Love is Blind for a long time, I thought Joey was going to answer first. But having Monica answer first was a curve ball I didn’t expect but liked. Because Monica and Joey don’t hate each other. They’re just friends. Like even them saying goodbye and how it wasn’t going to work out was chill and respectable. So good on Monica for choosing herself. And who knows, maybe if they’re away from the camera and Monica’s sister, they can truly make it.
Additional comment on Monica’s sister though. I know the edit pushes a lot. But Monica’s sister consistently judged with a smile on her face like she knew better. Instead, she came off as bitter and jealous of her own family. Even Monica’s response to her sister during the bridal prep time was giving, “We don’t even really like each other but are doing this for the camera.” Monica’s sister makes Monica feel like she needs to be small. And Monica isn’t small. She’s vibrant.
4. Is it just us, or did Taylor and Daniel save Love is Blind season 8? And why did they say yes?

Lizzie: They absolutely save it. It was one of those man, I’m really glad they save the best for last because I was losing hope in this process. And then by the end, I was almost endeared again. Love exists! They were so cute when they were on that couch together. Who would have thought? And Daniel reading of that little paper and then going off script and then going back to it? Iconic. Never change, Daniel.
Lyra: The simple answer with Taylor and Daniel is that they like each other first and also love each other. They also took special time to check out the others interests and integrated their families. And the tiny bit of drama they had? Oh they squashed that real fast. That left them with plenty of room to learn about each other and come together as a couple. Honestly, I wish we saw more of the in season 8.
5. How does this season finale compare to season 7?

Lizzie: Honestly, it was much better! I don’t know why, but I connected more with Taylor and Daniel than Taylor and Garrett. Or maybe I just liked the theme of the women choosing themselves over seeing Ashley marry Tyler. That was just depressing. Yeah, this was a much better finale.
Lyra: I think I enjoyed season 8 of Love is Blind better than season 7 when it comes to the finale. Maybe season 7 had more drama worthy moments. I definitely enjoyed that. But I didn’t enjoy the finale as much. And if I’m really looking at it all, I think I liked Taylor and Daniel a little more than Taylor and Garrett because they seem like they truly like each other as people. Love second. Like first.
6. What’s something about Love is Blind season 8 episode 12 that you wish more people talked about?

Lizzie: I don’t know that people are really gonna be talking about the fact that Devin went to his wedding with his hair looking like THAT, but they should.
Lyra: Joey’s longboard. I felt like Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games when he rolled up to the altar on that with those pristine floors. “That is mahoghany!” Also hair budget only went to the women. But Devin and Joey really could’ve done better. They even spent more time on Monica’s sister’s hair than they did on these two.
7. What does Love is Blind need to do better in future seasons?

Lizzie: There’s an engaged couple they didn’t follow, one that’s still together to this day! Are they really doing a good job at picking who to follow here? Inquiring minds want to know. Also, casting. Who is vetting these people? There have been so many controversies, year in and year out. And in this season, so little diversity. Are there really no POC in Minneapolis?
Lyra: Love is Blind needs to realize people have nothing but time. So if we can find all the secrets and chisme, why can’t the people vetting contestants also do that? Also, we’re stagnating a little, people. It’s time to shake things up or stick to something. Because I’m not buying the whole “love is blind” thing anymore. Everyone is always hot or conventionally good looking. And 75% of these people end up trying to be social media stars. Take a chance Netflix. You wanna prove that looks don’t matter? Vet your people better and stop putting the same slim pretty people on my screen.
