Another Simple Favor, the highly anticipated sequel to the dark comedy A Simple Favor (2018) is really close! Directed once again by Paul Feig, the film, that we once feared would be canceled, reunites original stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick in a story that promises even more glamour, mystery, and unexpected twists.
This new installment takes the plot to the Italian island of Capri. Emily Nelson (Lively) is planning a lavish wedding to her new fiancé, Dante (played by Michele Morrone), a wealthy Italian heir surrounded by luxury and secrets. Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick), now working as a private investigator, is invited to the event. What should be a glamorous celebration quickly turns into chaos when a murder and a series of betrayals spark an unexpected game of deception.
The tone of the sequel is seems bolder and more stylized than that of the first film. While A Simple Favor subtly blended suspense with humor, Another Simple Favor dives headfirst into a more over-the-top style and a striking aesthetic. The costumes, Italian locations, and art direction are key elements that give the film a theatrical flair, embracing its dark comedy roots more openly.
The cast not only features the return of Lively and Kendrick but also includes Henry Golding as Sean, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack. New additions to the cast include Allison Janney, Alex Newell, Elizabeth Perkins, and Elena Sofia Ricci.
Filming took place in spring 2024 at stunning locations in Capri and the historic Villa Adriana. Another Simple Favor had its world premiere at the SXSW Festival in March 2025, where it received mixed reviews. The movie promises to be a stylish, entertaining experience full of surprises no matter what.
